The headline is misleading and the story wrong. Maxam imports explosives and dynamite like its competitors and they supply to the various industries that use the products. All these products are stored in magazines under security and guarded by the Security Agents. So the mere fact that some of these were found under the ECG Transformers doesnt automatically mean Maxam is guilty. Id investigations are been carried out, then the security officials guarding the magazine where these were stolen and that company's officials are all answerable. Your story is not well researched and cast the impression that Maxam is guilty and for what reasons?

Banning Maxam from importing explosives and asking it to show how some of those explosives got where they were allegedly found is a most stupid way of solving the problem, with negative consequences not only for the security of Ghana but Ghana's confers.

First, Maxam, being a transnational affiliate, will simply divert imports to Abidjan so that its operations elswhere in W. Africa are not disrupted. Ghana will be the loser, denting its attempt to be the so-called Gateway to W. Africa!

Secondly, it is the duty of national security to investigate, interrogate, piece information together and solve the problem - not Maxam! Maxam has no authority to carry out such functions in Ghana. It can only provide information as to which company or person/s those batch numbers were sold to, if sold at all, i.e., not stolen. If Maxam had failed to note down the serial numbers when sold or stored, then they must be penalised for breach of routine procedures in handling such dangerous objects. There is nothing in this article to indicate if that was the case, so why the ban and pressure on Maxam to do the unthinkable?
