Kufuor instead of letting “Tarzan” change the culture at VRA, decided to pacify the employees and moved him to the Ghana@50 project.
The same thing happened with Ghana International Airline which Kufuor killed by putting his Ghanaian cronies in, it fared better when there were less Ghanaians at the top. In any case it is a fact that private airlines do better than national/government airlines because of constant government interference and abuse of the system by government, politicians and their family.

It appears that way from a distance, but I believe people will be forced to sit up and face the world if the dependency complex is eradicated while privatization is encouraged.

Lets consider a hypothetical case in which a company has to raise money through private equity means in order to finance its expansion. You can bet your bottom dollar that such an organization will make sure there are performance metrics in place to justify continued employment of its staff. The case is not the same when dealing with government run institutions, because they can always get the government- you and I, to get them out of the rut. High ranking officials of government run institutions enjoy expensive perks against a background of streaky poor performances.

The question is; What is the way forward for Oman Ghana ? I believe a small and limited role of the government backed by a reliable judiciary will do the trick. Currently, the powers that be like the status quo in place, because it benefits them a great deal. Somebody show me a privately run organization that will tolerate a string of failures without incurring some sort of re-organization.

Lastly, making presidential changes is not the panacea, rather the ability of our electorate to hold elected officials' "feet to the fire" will do the trick. Simply make sure they are doing your bidding otherwise democracy will be a mere game of "musical chairs".

I hope you are not basing your correction on the poor journalistic prose we are currently witnessing in Ghana. It could be he never put things that way. Corrections aside, this Dr Wereko-Brobby guy is really full of him self. If the working body were lazy and powerful to be disciplined, one wonders why he never leveraged his strong relationship with Kuffour administration to effect the much needed change he is now advocating.

We must remember that good leadership is well rooted in a psychological and actionable foundation. A leader cannot expect positive response from the governed, when they constantly flout the agreed upon rules against the enemies- corruption, nepotism etc. of progress. Dr Wereko-Brobby, your corrupt practices at VRA demoralized employees in some way. I am in no way condoning the actions of these employees, but I am simply sick and tired of Ghanaian "leaders" offering solutions after the fact.

Also, laziness breed corruption because which is quite obvious in all sectors of the economy.

VRA and some people at the high echelon of political power are behind the problems surrounding the electrical power rationing.
Some Generator importers and retailers are seriously and frantically working very hard with some powers that be not to end the rationing of power. This they are religiously doing to protect their import and retailing business. Some of them are VRA and ECG big shots.
I think it is about time Ghanaians ask for a shake up at the VRA and ECG.
Why should a few hold the nation in darkness that never ends simply because of their pockets? Come on!

Dr Wereko Brobby advised the government to abandon completely the idea of making Ghana a net exporter of power in the near future and focus on meeting domestic demand, then I think he had Ghana as nation at heart and this government must adhere to his advice. After all can this and the previous Government's provide in figures to the nation how much it derives from the net export of power and how it invests that money to impact the lives of Ghanaians who constantly face power cuts. This is common sense except our politicians are stupid.
