Please read and understand the issues before commenting!!
"They were brought in to shore up the country's electricity supply which was at critical levels during the energy crisis at the time (2007).
They were installed and used to solve the energy crisis but "the plan was to distribute the generators to institutions after the 2007 power crisis, but five years on, many are still unused".
So who is saying they were never used? I agree that deploring them to institutions has been slow leaving the machines idle. NPP lost power in 2008 by which time "a few have been distributed to locations in Kumasi, Tamale, Accra and Bolgatanga".
So all what was needed was for Mills to continue where Kuffour left off! Mills was in power for nearly all his four-year term before being recalled by his maker. Wasn't that enough time for his govt to have deplored the rest across the country?
Please read and understand the issues well so that you can comment judiciously and stop the unhealthy partisan approach to debates on this forum. Kuffour cannot be blamed under this circumstance! If we should be sincere, it is Mills' govt that should take the blame.
As an analogy, let's take the Jubilee (Flagstaff House) for example. NPP lost power just at the threshold of completing the presidency moving in. Mills chose not to use it just because it was built by Kuffour and more so he (Mills) bitterly criticized its construction at a time when "majority of Ghanaians could not afford to feed their families".
Before Mahama took steps to get it in shape for the recent moving-in, we heard of the place being taken over by rodents, cocroaches and bush. Can you sincerely blame Kuffour for that? Unless there is no fear of God in your heart!!
Volta god 11 years ago

If it'll take this amount of money ($136,000) to overhaule each generator and would in return improve lives or save lives, why not. When will Ghanaian politians take into account that all "money be money"? either during NDC rule, or NPP, Green Party rule or TTT rule? Why is always new king new law? Same rule was applied to the Cocoa Plant our late Kwame Nkrumah built. Lying there in ruins - costing tax payers money, and lots of it. What a shame to our nation. Yet we act like we know it all. "Tears have turned to blood". Where is accountability? Is it because we always receive grants from other countries, pretending we don't have the funds? what about brains? don't we have that too, or we need to borrow that as well? Don't we have educated people in Ghana? Where are our doctors, teachers, ingeneers, lawyers, accountants, craftmen/women, nurses, scholors,? Is the whole of the country Ghana being led by a one eye leader, hence all fall in ditch/gutter? This is inspiring pity for the whole nation and her citizenry. Speak up, write letters to your prospective mayors, twitt, send emails, enough of the selence. Instead of pilling insults, speak up sensibly by bringing out your points accross each debate. Letting our leaders know that gone were those days when we don't have a "voice". Now we do. Utilizing our freedom os speech towards our freedom. Cutting edge - making them account for their position.

If NPP bought these generators, should they be left to rot just because NDC is in power? Come on folks, These are State properties and the necessary steps should have been taken to use them instead of playing foolish partisan politics.
NDC is deliberately playing partisan senseless politics in an attempt to blame the former government of recklessness.
The generators are state properties and should be cared for.

The waiter, suspecting that they've run out, goes back to question the chef.
"Hey, Kweku, do we have any more eggs?"
Kwekeu replies, "I ran out of fresh eggs, I only have two rotten eggs left."
The waiter says, "Give him the rotten eggs. He's so drunk he won't know the difference."
Kweku scrambles up the rotten eggs and heaps on fried potatoes, sausage and toast.
The drunk is so hungry he eats down the breakfast without comment.
He goes to pay the cashier and asks, "Where'd you get those eggs?"
She replies, "We have our own chicken farm."
The drunk asks, "Do you have a rooster{Male hen]?
"No," she says.
The drunk replies, "Well, you'd better get one, because some skunk{skunk is an animal that looks like a squirrel with bad odor] is screwing your chickens.

As youth, we have the duty of care to make reasonable and "country growth" contributions on such media and i believe some of these leaders will one day read and totally change and will gradually change them one after the other.
Its obvious the past cannot be reversed from now but the present and the future can be protected. Let protect the present and the future by passing solutions to our problems than to "crise over spilled milk".
I think the country can out-source the running and maintenance of these gensets to a number of fully Ghanaian owned companies in Ghana and should not be based on partisan approach.

Whoever ordered those generators is a thief. How can you buy an equipment that will use $1000 ressource to generate electricity and then sell the electricity at $500.
"They would first have to be overhauled at a cost of up to $136,000 each".
If Mahama and his cohorts stop stealing there would be funds to overhaul and reactivate the generators. Any challenge?
Overhauled, the what?
They cost more money to generate power than to sell power. SELL THEM TO THE CLUELESS THIEVES WHO BOUGHT THEM.
And when it came to time to vote, they said e de bee ke ke and now you are crying. Next time you will learn some good sense and not sell your ability to THINK on tribal and ethnic lines when voting.
