Sekou is absolutely right that the government should be focused on the urgent needs of the population and stop matters that can delay. It's not a priority as at now. May be, on Ghana's 6oth independence anniversary.

Ghana's credit rating has been down graded by two powerful credit rating agencies,yet this government see nothing wrong with that than continue with the heartless aggrandizement of Dr Nkrumah's name. Basic necessities of life such as food, housing, electricity, water, education, health, etc. are still things many Ghanaians only dream about. They simply cannot afford any of them.

But a "social-democratic" government virtually cares no hoot about addressing those challenges. Their best craft is stealing from the people both their votes, money, and other valuable resources.

Same nation celebrates 50th birthday and invites the leaders of similar poor countries with same "upside down" priorities, requiring importation of expensive vehicles etc. while its hospitals have been turned into graveyards, where patients with boken legs are sent to go and buy the POP required for their treatment. This is beyond party politics, as both leading parties are guilty. It has to do with African leadership philosophy and mentality. Our leaders just don't get it!! Pitiful indeed. Why dont we ever see our more developed counterparts holding such celebrations when they could better afford them? We keep honoring Nkrumah without understanding leadership as he did. He must be very restless in his grave, when his name is attached to such idiotic spendings in the name of honoring him. Best way to honor Nkrumah is to lead like he led! How are we able to sponsor hundreds of football fans to watch soccer in SA but cannot afford modern medical equipment for early detection and fighting diseases? Ghana is bigger than Accra! Sports,good. But Should it number one when spending limited funds? Terrible prioritization. Pitiful indeed. Let us face it: Our leaders are mostly career seekers and not nation builders. They have ruled Ghana for more than 20 years, yet majority of Ghanaians are a still wallowing in abject poverty. Ghana is resource-rich country (cocoa, timber, diamond, bauxite, manganese, gold, oil, salt, quarry, good arable land, abundant water, forest and human resources) enough to develop. Regrettably, after 50 years of independence, we cannot manage these resources to help alleviate poverty. After decades of economic mismanagement and resource misallocation by NDC, Ghana cannot even support 100% of its budget. We still depend on foreign handouts. About 70% of our national budget is supported by the development partners overseas. Why? Are we independent? Can a government properly exert its authority if it is dependent on foreign handouts?

We must all kick against this, it's a waste of money. We as a nation must stand up, our money is not being used in a proper way. How on earth must we prioritize portraits? This is not the best for us as a nation.

Sekou should understand that but for the AU and well meaning Ghanaians the NPP would have buried the memory of his father.Dr. Sekou must stop dancing to populists tunes and be realistic. Charity begins at home and I think the President is doing the right thing to ensure that we accord the first President of Ghana his due in history.

The next step expected of a third prodigal son is to pick up the remains of his father from Accra to hide him in Nkroful so that nobody can remember him. He can remove the last name as well so that Nkrumah's name will be forgotten in Ghana. Can he ever think of building a Library in his father's name? Meaning of names are important. Compare Yaba and Sekou.

It is most unfortunate that those who do not want the Chinese to construct road in Ghana at half the cost of western contractors are the same people who do not want to see the State Construction Company on the work. It is like an ingrain slave mentality, that it is only the west that can animate us. There was a statue of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah at the Kwame Nkrumah circle before 24/2/1966 and that it was vandalized and destroyed by the military and police after the coup. We may say that there is no need for a family to grow threes on its compound because the water that is to be used to nature the three can be put to another useful use. But life is different the reason why we do not just saw some sack and wear, but saw a dress well cut and swan.
