The NDC would have to explain to Ghanaians how a dead man came to author and sign a letter!

The opening paragraph states, “I came to serve; I have finished my time here on earth and have moved on to everlasting rest and celestial duties with my heavenly father.”

The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?

The letter then goes on melodramatically, “As you leaf through these pages of my life’s story, I pray to God that it touches your heart in many positive ways. Weep not, I am not dead. I am alive and awake in the Lord. Ghana will not die; Ghana will live to declare the works of the Lord. We wish these naval officers who lost their lives whilst serving Mother Ghana a perfect peace at their final resting place. The chiefs, queen mothers and indigenes around the river should be arrested for cooperating with the illegal miners to do their job. Why was it unknown to the people that galamseyers have dug into the boundaries of river? What's the work of the unit committee and assembly members? It is the local people who are either doing the illegal mining themselves or collaborating with foreigners to do so.

Were they wearing life jackets at that time, if the answer is yes? What is the level of preparedness to act in situatios like this? Were these gentlemen even well trained swimmers? And did their intructor did a good job in selecting the departed two to join their colleagues kn this kind of pursuit on this big and dangerous river with such swift currents? ma friend it saddens ma heart that people like also ve da chance to comment on a platform like this. for all those who are saying its during this rea that we having this problem< must really read well and be conscious ghanaians abt what really goes on in our dear nation. even though i ll not tell u who i really am, i ll like u to know i am one person who has been involved in this operation for a very long time. mining of gold in da Pra river is not a thing of today. it started long since before u were born. i presume u just finished senior high.successive governments ve tried to stop this bad habit but ve not been able to do it cos its Ghanaians who are actually involved in this. there is no chinese involvement in da pra river mining.and for da issue of life jackets da less i talk abt it da better. let me make one thing clear. every member of da navy has a life jacket issued on joining a ship. ma presumption is that da police survived cos they were wearing theirs. i ll leave da rest for ur own judgement. please i will encourage most of u guys here to read more and learn cos politics and insults ll not help u. and funnily enough u comment on topics u ve no idea abt. its a shame we ve such people in Ghana.

Also Ghana does have at least 2 naval ships that were actually used during the Liberia war to evacuate Liberian citizens. These were no UN ships but Ghana owned ships. Shocking though that Naval officers would drown. At a minimum, use a life jacket. Shocking to say the least.

This is a serious case of dereliction of duty on the part of the higher-ups. The so-called commanders have regard for these junior officers or they would have thought right not put these poor guys in that dangerous situation. Mark my word; they will be buried without autopsy or sort of medical report, or any serious investigation. May their souls rest in the eternal peace of the maker.

I use to be a fishermen and have testified strange death of experience swimmers. Dying in water when one attempts to resque most often results in contention leading to the death of both parties ask your self will you attempt to resque if you cannot swim? Though avoidable it's one among many of the occupational hazards These are issues worth discussing the men need better remuneration,better pay,better equipment etc I am rather hearing billions being spent as rent allowance which in itself is no investment but rather causing financial loss to the state. They are dead and gone may their soul rest in perfect peace as we usually say. NOW proactive measures should be adopted to safeguard the future for all Ghanaians. This Nonsense must stop

The who armed forces, apart from boys company who are trained how to swim during their three years military training , it's not part of the army, navy, police training syllabus . Why were they no provided with life jackets? This shows how our govt don't care about the forces. Defence of the nation is very weak, civilians forget how important the GAF . Visionless leaders who don't care how the defence is train. Hmmmm, when countries are spending to build their defence , govt is buy 4wheel drive. Shame, shame , useless governance .

Why didn't the other members of the arrest team try to save them? They did have a plan at all for this operation and were men with the right experience dispatched.

ghanaians talk too much and most of the comment here are from dumb people.the navy has more than 8 operational ships,it has hundreds of life-jackets too. the problem is the officer who was in charge of the operation,yes maybe they didnt anticipate the operation wud get to a point where they wud av to chase illegal miners on the river so as the officer in charge y wud he allow is men get on a boat without life jackets. and to think the naval officers too got drowned at the river bank is quite shameful,it was the middle of the ocean. i know the naval base at sekondi has a swiiming pool so dis a lesson to us all,letz take our professions serious and learn all the nitty-gritties of it.wat stops our navy personnels from taking time to go to the pool to train on their own after work cos they close at only 1:30pm everyday excluding those on duty for the day. we tend to blame the government for everytin including our own negligence but yes we'll complain and insult but at the end of the day we wud be fu*kd and the government will continue to enjoy wat they always enjoy. let all be serious wit everytin we do,if u're a naval personnel or a sailor u must know how to swim,if u're a fire service personel u shd know how to get out of a smoke filled area etc every profession has it own occupational hazards so we shd all know how to survive such hazards cos life is not all rosy else at the end of the day u will be fu*kd and life and ghana still goes on.next tym even if ur superior officer ask u to do sometin and u feel itz unsafe,refuse dat order and explain later at a court martial if it goes down to dat level... RIP guys

They were presented with light boats from the US (the US Coast Guard use them) which will be suitable for a job like this.The boat can be taken ashore if possible.
