  Two women friends had gone for a "girls night out." They both were very faithful, loving wives... however, they had gotten a bit over enthusiastic on Margaritas at the Rio.
  
  Incredibly drunk and walking home, they needed to pee, so they stopped in a cemetery. One had nothing to wipe with so she decided to take off her panties and use them. Her friend, however, was wearing expensive panties and didn't want to ruin them... luckily she had squatted next to a grave that had a fresh wreath with a ribbon on it... so she proceeded to wipe with that.
  
  After the girls completed their "business" they continued toward home.
  
  The following day, one of the husbands was concerned that his normally sweet and innocent wife was still in bed and hung over. He phoned the other husband, and said "These girls nights out have got to stop! I'm starting to suspect the worst! My wife came home with no panties!"
  
  "That's nothing!" said the other husband, "mine came back with a card stuck to her butt that read:
  
  "FROM ALL OF US AT THE FIRE STATION... WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!!!"

  GHANA NAVY SHOULD ALSO EDUCATE FISHERMEN,PASSENGERS ON SAFETY AND FIRST AID ON ALL INLAND WATER TRAVELLING.THEY MUST TEACH THEM HOW TO USE LIFE JACKETS WHICH MUST BE COMPULSORY FOR TRAVELERS.

  Over here in CANADA,both FIRE SERVICE & AMBULANCE SERVICES teach CPR(CARDIO PULMINARY RESUSITATION) in every communities and even factories,schools,colleges,universities,garrages,football teams.THAT WOULD PREVENT UNNECESARY AND PREMATURED DEATHS WE EXPERIENCE DAILY IN AFRICA,out of fire outbreak(suffocation,a pass out/fainted person,etc.I remember when one fainted/passesed out,we were pouring water on him.THAT WAS TOTALLY WRONG,BECAUSE MANY DIED IN THE PROCESS.Simple knowledge about the administration of CPR could have saved their lives but we didn't know.That is very sad.When I was taught over here in TORONTO,I cried within me because I could have saved many lives in Ghana and wondered why the Community Nurses were not instructed by the Health Authority to teach in homes?THIS IS MY SUGGESTION,IF IT IS NOT BEING TAUGHT YET,NATIONWIDE.THE HEALTH AUTHORUTY INCLUDING THE AMBULANCE SERVICES AND THE FIRE SERVICES,MUST HELP IN TEACHING THIS KNOWLEDGE IN EVERY HOME TO PREVENT UNTOLD DEATHS OF MILLIONS THAT ARE IGNORANT IN THIS SIMPLE TECHNIQUE(CPR).MAY GOD BLESS GHANA AND AFRICA.

  Also, your comment on this forum will not go to address the situation you've described.. instead, it rather exposes you as being the proverbial "arm chair critic"? I do not know.
  I am also a Ghanaian-Canadian resident in Toronto.. I do visit home, and like you I am very concerned with the health and general wellbeing of my people. I was born and raised in a very tiny village in the Volta Region called Nkonya...., Having stayed here in Toronto and having been exposed to such wonderful systems as described by you above, I do conduct risk assessment of my village, their environment and my people every time I visit.. and I personally participate and if not possible, sponsor activities to improve the village.
  With my village people dying unnecessary deaths from such simple things as scorpion stings, snake bites, wound infections, dehydration from diarrhoea, etc... and in fact, from common choking.... I decided to do something about it.
  As a healthcare worker here in Toronto, I do my periodic re-certifications in CPR, AED and 1st AID. In order to train my people, I also trained as a basic Instructor with a private firm (here in Toronto) which cost me (CN$250 + GST) out of pocket. I brought about 5 1st AID text books with me, the next time I visited. I gathered all the Town or Village Development Committee members together and taught them the skills. I did stress that these basic skills when acquired well, will perform wonders that no local juju or voodoo priest/priestess, pastor or "osofo-maame" will ever be able to achieve.
  I left the books behind for their periodic review and to train more people. In Sept 2012 (4 months ago), I again called the Committee Chair for update.. "We are doing our best", he told me.
  You may ask, why this lengthy article?
  The answer is, I just want to press home that we should not leave everything to the government! If you are patriotic and really love your people enough, you can individually initiate such a simple project to benefit your people..
  Please do not be offended. Rather, take this free "Patriotism 101" lesson and act accordingly.
