Essien's wife is NOT COMPLAINING. In her words "This is a small family matter"

The Wife, even if Subpoenaed to appear in Court, because of the Hospital Report, the alleged photographs or what a Neighbor heard or saw, can INVOKE THE MARITAL
PRIVILEGE and refuse to testify.

Even if this matter should be prosecuted because of what the neighbor who called the police said.. that the wife said Essien assaulted her because she stole his money, the moment STEALING is pled, we are no longer dealing with a wife, WE are dealing with a Thief. And what don't we all do to thieves in Ghana when we catch them in the act?

So why are others so bent on pushing this matter?

I think it is that ENVY that is common in our society that is driving the call for prosecution. Essien's successes in life is what they want to bring down to earth and size. This is the TYPICAL WARPED THINKING of getting EVEN with those who have made it.

For, if it was only a concern for battered or abused wives there are many of them in my small area of Accra alone that the courts will be choked if these were to be prosecuted.

It is up to the prosecutor to pursue it or not. Note also that the prosecutor can decide not to prosecute a case even if the wife were to press charges. Painstil is now ashamed of himself. His assault charge was reported by BBC as well. What an embarassment when he joins his team in Israel!

Many battered and physically abused women, in what has become known as the Stockholm Syndrome, are quick to go to the defense of their wives and boyfriends just as Richlove Paintsil is now doing. The Legon Police should take her word with a grain of salt, and go ahead and prosecute the wife beater. It is certainly the right thing to do.

PRIVILEGE and refuse to testify.

Even if this matter should be prosecuted because of what the neighbor who called the police said.. that the wife said Essien assaulted her because she stole his money, the moment STEALING is pled, we are no longer dealing with a wife, WE are dealing with a Thief. And what don't we all do to thieves in Ghana when we catch them in the act?

So why are others so bent on pushing this matter?

I think it is that ENVY that is common in our society that is driving the call for prosecution. Essien's successes in life is what they want to bring down to earth and size. This is the TYPICAL WARPED THINKING of getting EVEN with those who have made it.

Look at Rihanna, Patty Hearst and Natascha Kampusch. This is the reason why victims of domestic violence tend to defend those who have harmed them. It makes it difficult for the police to help the victim, even where there is a clear case. This case most likely occurred; it is difficult for the police to fabricate a story like someone being stabbed through the eye...when the wife steps out, then everyone will know the truth.

My wife accused me this morning of being disrespectful because I use a bath tub and water closet which were fixed for me yesterday by the plumber. She said that I am insolent because I refused her orders not to use the bath tub and water closet only on the 28th of February, 2013. However the plumber advised that I can use them this morning.
I am of the view that human rights advocates must not forget that men also have a right and should not make it look like only men have hands and mouth.
The belief by our women that whenever they disturb the tranquility in the house there is the police to arrest their husbands, charge then and sentence them is becoming an albatross on the neck of society. We must punish wife beater, but since we believe that even those who murder should not be killed by the state, then our aim must be how to protect the sanctity of marriage without making it oppressive for any of the parties.
We should also remember that when families break-up it is mostly the children who are at the receiving end.
