We need to learn to reason constructively. The reality must be seen today. Who is in charge of the nation, what has he promise and is he going to furfil his promises? What is the priority. MAHAMA CALL FOR CLOSER RELATION BETWEEN GHANA, NIGERIA AND THE REST OF WEST AFRICA.

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday 22 called for closer relations between Ghana and Nigeria as both countries have had the same developmental potentials and challenges over the years.

He said Ghana would particularly partner Nigeria, which had developed effectively in the banking reforms sector and could share her experiences with others.

President Mahama made this statement when Dr Ngozi Okanjo Iweala, Nigerian Minister for Finance and Economics called on him at the Flagstaff House, Kanda.

The Nigerian Minister, one time Managing Director of the World Bank, was at the Presidency to share some political ideas with the President.

President Mahama said paramount issues among West African Countries, was to forge ahead for the integration of the region to make it formidable against other regions and continents in the world.

He said although language had been a major barrier to the integration, there was the need to begin in certain areas that could finally facilitate the full integration of the region.

He said after economic and financial crises had hit Europe and other continents in the past, the onus was now on Africa to spring up, in view of the fact that there were numerous natural resource deposits in the country.

President Mahama called for the strengthening of trade links that could make the continent self-reliant and stem over-reliance on other continents.

Dr Iweala, who was accompanied by Mr Seth Terkper, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, congratulated President Mahama for his victory and coronation as President of the Republic.

She said Nigeria and Ghana had common challenges of high rate of unemployment, job creation and poor management of natural resources and called for collaboration that would enhance their economic opportunities.

The former Managing Director of the World Bank commended President Mahama for instituting legislations for the management of natural resources, which she said would at the long-run bring substantial benefits to all Ghanaians.

“If Mahama called for closer partnership between the West African States and later Africa as a whole on Friday the 22nd of February, then why is Kufour here running his mouth all over and claiming credit for what was initiated by Mahama himself last Friday?”

If you had any brains you would realise that sending power to other regions is the easiest thing to do, putting measures in place to increase power generation to prevent shortages is what a visionary leader does. At least K4 made sure the Bui dam would be a reality for Ghanaians by ensuring the fund for the construction to the completion of the dam were in place before he left power. Govt is a continueous process. But some shortsighted idiots would rather turn a blind eye and disrespect other peoples achievements. Look, Kuffor is talking sense, this isn't about political point scoring. This obsession with politics has and will continue to stunt Ghana's development. Politics is fine in helping to open eyes and improve the country but when people are deliberating insulting Kuffor, in this instance, because they are not NPP (or support Mahama/NDC) then honestly we deserve no better as a country then to be sufferring.

How many times do we need to suffer for people to wake up and ask politicians to put country first.....playing politics with situations like this just shows that our mentality is juvenile and we as a people have a long way to go.

All persons approach and tackle problems their own way. Mahama may be doing a lot on the quiet , who knows?. It does not take a lot to prompt him into realizing that the situation as it is, cannot go on. The country is not functioning right.

And by record,he is the only former president who could ignore all the threats, negative insults and the likes to attend president Mahama's inauguration as the president of the Fourth republic of Ghana boycotted by his mates.

Here, apart from being the smart person he is, he saw the sense and agecny in attending such an important inauguration of such national importance and to me, this did not only show maturity but also good statemanship and love for country.

This is why it's soo important to listen to good counsel when offered one.If the former president has the power and will today,he would go to Parliament to listen to his junior brother and politician speak in Parliament if need be. The former president might have had his short-falls during his tenure in office but when it becomes obvious for a now president if you will, to seek a good and laudable counselling for someone who has been there for two consecutive terms, thus 8yrs, I think there is nothing wrong with that and therefore, must all buy into this!.

When President Mills government decided to take huge loans from China as an advace sale of our portion of the Crude oil, what happened? They went in for the loan alright and our portion of the crude oil is being extracted as low as US$40 a barrel. The trend will continue for years till the loan is fully recovered by China. What happened to the loan? Frivolous judgement debts, etc etc. The worst is yet to come. Look at the price of LPG. Now when buying fuel, the attendant will NEVER ask you of your political affiliation. We are all in the soup. Please lets think as Ghanaians. The nation first.

With respect to power supply, I am involved with a company that can secure coal from Eastern Nigeria, also known as Biafra and convert the coal to electricity to supplement the electricity from Ghana's hydro-electric dams.

Finally, why is the government of Ghana not investing in technologies for solar energy?
Ghanaians always like to have ready-made products.

Ghana has abundance of SUN nationwide and wind from the southern coastal areas. Electric energy can be harnessed from both the sun and the wind. Why do Ghanaians have to suffer from shortages of water and electricity? It beats logic.

Foolish Kuffour does not think those countries will now tell you NO because they also have needs. Nigeria has its own set of problems so stop thinking like a child-beggar. Even if Obasanjo was in charge today he will say "NO" because you are now exporting oil and you refused to accept election results when he(Obasanjo) said "they were free and fair" as he was part of the observing team. Even the late Gadaffi would have refused by telling you he was the first leader to get more than 50% for his country so why couldn't you do the same for your people. We do not need to beg. Look at the recent money of £2.3 billion taken by the Britsh government from mobile companies for the 4G networks and compare how the same Kuffour and his NPP lot sold all of Ghana Telecom together with fibre optics networks to Vodafone for peanuts. Even Gordon Brown taxed mobile companies £22 billion for the 3G network so let Mr Kuffour think before he opens his bush mouth.
