In 2008, NDC was lead by a Fanti as flagbearer and President. NDC now has a Northerner as President and a Fanti as vice. AND IN ALL THESE MANY YEARS, THE NDC HAS APPOINTED MORE ASHANTIS TO THE BIGGEST CABINET AND MINISTERIAL POSITIONS THAN ANY OTHER TRIBE; FROM FINANCE MINISTER TO FOERIGH MINISTER TO BOG BOSS.

What else do u want? How can u compare this to the NPP, who for over 30 years elect only Ashanti/Akyem for flagbearer and biggest cabinet and ministerial positions? Aside that, we have a party always insulting non-Akyem and non-Ashantis openly in public with no sense at all.

At least, the founder of the NDC party has an Ashanti as a wife and mostly Ashantis as his best friends because he's not as tribalistic as some people we know who surround themselves with only tribesmen.

If anyone believed Wereko-Brobby's earlier interjection into this issue was an act of a fool "talking by-heart" then they better think again.

There are a good number of highly-placed individuals within the party who are simply fed-up with the fact that the selfish actions of an individual presidential candidate are severely impacting the fortunes of the NPP as a party.

This court case is Ghana's only (perhaps, last chance) to obtain the truth and correct the dubious elections.The supreme court owes Ghana not only the truth, but a fair, just and transparent judgement.
The message is that it is now or never; If Ghana does not address the issue now, this means that in the future, ELECTIONS WILL CONTINUE TO BE RIGGED BY THE MURKY EC WITH THE CONNIVANCE OF CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND POLITICAL PARTIES,MEGA-CORRUPTION AND BRIBERY will go unpunished and, even end up as the "order of the day".
We ghanaians must thank the NPP for their courage as this has already gone down in history as being the party that stood up to say "NO TO RIGGED ELECTIONS" and that NEVER EVER SHOULD GHANA BE SLAPPED IN THE FACE BY RIGGED ELECTIONS.
Furthermore, a "code of ethics" needs to be drawn to be respected by political parties, EC, govt organisations etc.
We should all abide by: FREEDOM AND JUSTICE; HONESTY AND INTEGRITY; ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCE AND.... DEMOCRACY.
This court case has gone global( not surprising, with the attention drawn to Ghana by the gold plane saga, WTO Ghana candidate and potential Pope Turkson) and the world is now watching very attentively....

Going to court and taking the law into their own hands,which one will Mr Pianim choose for the NPP? And where was Mr Pianim when the arrogant spokespersons of NPP were speaking anyhow and turning people off from the party? One would have expected Mr Pianim as a senior member of the party to offer good advice to nib in the bud the mayhem the said spokespersons were causing to the party. The NPP is a bad looser and has become increasingly undemocratic from within, led by bunch of blind national executives who have mortgaged their brains and will to the dictates of a one-eyed man who technically has taken the party hostage. Even party ‘elites’ have all lost the freedom to express dissenting views. Why has it taken Kwame Pianim so long to state the obvious? Everyone including a majority of NPP voters sees that, Non partisan Ghanaians see that, except the blind national NPP executives leading the party to the precipice. Akkufo-Addo, Bawumia and Obestebi-Lamptey will oversee the disintegration of their party.

NPP refused to accept the Dec 12 elections and the SC is in the process of determining its credibility. Until then and by their sworn oath, NPP MUST UPHOLD THE CONSITITUTION, attend all parliamentary proceedings and be LAW ABIDING, a duty of every Ghanaian. They refuse to submit to authority and are a bad example to future politicians. Is it not prudent for NPP to remain tolerant, patient, uphold the rule of law and show mutual respect to people with divergent views and also within their party? That is the way to earn respect and win followers.

The continued boycott of parliament does not give NPP the moral authority to criticise the ruling NDC government or president. NPP was elected to ensure the right balance in matters of the house. Ghana cannot afford to be without a leader and a government for a moment let alone since 12 December 2012. NPP were to attend and part-taking in all parliamentary proceedings. That was what they were voted for and not to pursue partisan agenda or sentiments bordering on personal ambitions. They entered into a contract with the electorate underwritten by their fat monthly salaries. Otherwise, who gets paid for work not done or at best in part? By their boycott, NPP has reneged on their promise to the people of Ghana who elected their minority MPs to parliament and have since lost their way and credibility. How can the country trust such beanie brains? Ghana cannot and should not be made ungovernable as propagated by the moribund NPP leadership who are but selfish belly-politician, bankrupt of ideas.

SUPREME COURT: There is no perfect election anywhere in the world but as long as the results fall within the agreed margin of error, it becomes statistically significant. In the Dec 12 elections, the results were verified and accepted by representatives from all the parties, internal/external and international bodies as being fair. This should be accepted by all sides in a democracy. NPP refused to accept the results and therefore, a bad looser. The issue at stake will be whether or not the disputed figures after disqualifying disputed votes, damaged and ambiguous ballots will be enough to overturn the outcome of the elections. This must be straight forward to determine and there should be no room for error.

NPP MUST STRATEGISE NOW: The NPP lost votes even in their strongholds for the following reasons: (1) foolish complacency in the run off to the elections, (2) their refusal to denounce violence including the ‘all-die-be-die’ mantra, (3) failure to engage the electorate and (4) the one prong hollow manifesto built on ‘SHS-SHS-SHS’ when they should elaborate on agriculture and social issues that matter to the electorate that they now highlight in their so called “state of the nation address”, (5) their extreme arrogance and disrespect for the electorate and a (6) poorly run campaign punctuated by insults and threats of violence. They should now review their approach and plan rather than waste valuable time and energy chasing after the wind in court.

ADVICE TO NPP: The current leadership is moribund, spent, tired and not good for purpose. It is narrow-minded often closed, impervious to reason and rather marginalise thinkers and pragmatists like Wireko Brobbey, Appiah Minka and others with dissenting views as Kwame Pianim. NPP must embrace opposing or dissenting views especially within their party if the party is to remain relevant. The fits of intolerance within the party only spills out to nurture violence in the long run. You all cannot agree on everything every time and the party can only become formidable going forward by looking for the gems in other views. It is now time for the sensible and well-meaning members of the NPP party to wrestle the leadership from the present wounded dead horse bunch if the party is to survive. Otherwise, NPP risks becoming fragmented based on at the 3 factions within. NPP will never regain the reins of government for a few generations to come if they continue their course.
