The NDC would have to explain to Ghanaians how a dead man came to author and sign a letter!
The opening paragraph states, “I came to serve; I have finished my time here on earth and have moved on to everlasting rest and celestial duties with my heavenly father.”
The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?
The letter then goes on melodramatically, “As you leaf through these pages of my life’s story, I pray to God that it touches your heart in many positive ways. Weep not, I am not dead. I am alive and awake in the Lord. Ghana will not die; Ghana will live to declare the works of the Lord. As I rest in perfect peace in the celestial realms with my maker, I pledge to always uphold and defend the good name of Ghana. Remember the Lord in all your ways and He will protect you. Stay well my brothers and sisters, I will always be with you. Signed (with actual signature) John Evans Atta Mills...

There are too many politicians for a small country like Ghana and wasting our resources on such unproductive projects as such will see us confirming the stupid theory that the third world nations have no sense of purpose...if we want to be competitive as nation that can stand any test of time...it's time we spend this money we're wasting on this school of politicians,on our youth;giving them the best quality education and jobs to create a better society, where at least we consume what we produce.....where our simple society of raw material producers will eventually turn into a more complex and industrialised nation with jobs for all those who want to work.
With all these ministers and their likes living as if they have contributed to make live better for the citzenry,we create a society where a few live better at the expense of majority and this is a dangerous situation that is bound to turn into violent society at the long run.
Ghana is a young country as far as democracy is concerned, if we want to create a society based on the principle of equity and egalitarianism then we should start correcting this wrong concept that the "political elites" should live in heaven whilst their electorates live in hell.
The president should not only take a superficial look at this injustice but should take a profound action to make a difference.

It is economically good for every Civil Servant to buy their own vehicle base on their salary. They drive to work in their own vehicles and drive government vehicles during office assignments. Government vehicles must not be used for attending funerals and on the weekends.
This was the case during Busia regime, Ministers and government Officials using government vehicles to funerals and riding around on weekends. Some Ministers get into trouble for that. If the government require Officials to use their private vehicles and tend in mileage for allowance, the mileage would be fabricated and rigged just as "alleged" rigged election numbers.
The President must set example and hold Ministers and Officials accountable. The President cannot hold anyone accountable if he him self abuse the law. Last year the President of France was reportedly riding on a bike to office to cut cost. Can President Mahama walk the talk? If the President mean business, he must lead by setting the example and sack Officials who abuse the system. Can The President walk the talk?

This happened during Rawlings's tenure and same was repeated during Kuffuo's tenure. I bet it would be repeated again under Mahama's leadership. Same vehicle, just different driver. Chop, chop.

Mr. President the best way to solve some of our problems is to privatized some of the government firms and agencies. That will allow you to accrued more taxes and then use those legacies do the infractures of the country and also pay workers wages and salaries. You see, it's not easy when all ghanaians are expecting the government to do everything for them. Mr. Prez you have to balance things by doing what some people may dislike and what some people may like because you can't satify every akwesi and ama in Ghana. People become lazy when they work for the government. You see, they walk lazy, eat lazy, sit lazy, think lazy and write lazy. The only thing they know best is to fuck hard, therefore, they marry two and three wives. Oh,think my people. We don't have to think that the government is our mother, thus, always depending on her. One way to do this, is again to privatized gov't jobs. This would eventually create jobs and also offering more loans to those who need them especially to the citizens so that they can create jobs. The jobs demand is higher than the supply so do something so that these lazy asses can work.

I don't know who you are, but i totally agree with you, there is no way the government of Ghana can hold on to all the government firms and agencies. All the government can do is to privatize those firms and agencies but impose a significant tax percent on each one of them, and then the tax money can be used to develop the country and also pay salaries and wages. This will also open more opportunities for more Ghanaians because those newly owners will need to hire more workers to be able to satisfy their customers' needs without any shortages.
The Prez cutting his expenditure which include his "cabinet ministers, and all those who have the sole authority and responsibility for the daily administration of the state" will help save some money. When a situation like this rises, cutting back is one of the best source of savings for a country.

This should also be extended to other state institutions and organisations. Financial prudence should be paramount on the government's agenda to reign in corruption and reducegovernment expenditure. It is not enough to complain about public sector pay alone being too high.

With government salaries taking up two-thirds of the national budget, the only way out is for the government to privatize and outsource as many services as possible, and where necessary to subsidize the weeaker elements of society (the old, the sick, children etc.) What is the raison d'tre(reason for existance) of the government? Just to pay themselves salaries with public funds? If this remains the case, the country will never develop for a thousand years. The government to cut down the civil service and send employees to Brong Ahafo, Ashanti Region, and Western Region to till the land; this is more productive to the country than civil servicing themselves only.

Go ahead with that. You have that big spine,Mr President to do that. Eliminate waste in the system. Just don't mind the idiots, focus and get things done. It is the right thing to do. After all is done and Ghanaians are enjoying , they will reference you as the President who led Ghana to the promise land. Get tough but diplomatic. The waste is too much in the system. This is what I call transformative leaddership. I discussed this somewhere, and the President probably has a clue about Dr Deming's principles. Go for them. Dr Deming 's philosophy worked in Japan, in the Ford Motor Company, and in other amaller companies. It can happen in Ghana. We need transformative leadership to turn this country around. That is why , I dont agree with Kuffour about good leadership. He talked about good leadership being the bane of Africa's problem. But what did he do in 8 years? At least, some policies he implemented would been showing positive signs. But no.....just looting, stealing, cronism, ethnic balkanization, grab all you can, "flush them out", this is us, "kojo, go ahead", squarepegs in round holes, pussying, globbetrotting, and the list continues
I am sure the current president does not want to toe this line. Prof Mills tried to clear all the rot...so continue to dig deep with your shovel and all will be well

This is a bold move but let see the implementation. Also, as president, you should pay taxes as you do not work for free. We are our own enemies when it comes to how we use money. Why or who made it possible for MPs, Ministers etc to have all these freebies? Even rich and advance nations, do not have such mouth-watering freebies let alone a nation that depends on donors support for her budget. See how stupid and careless our leaders are?
Look, Mr. President, let people with sharp brains, take another look at our constitution and make serious amends. The commission that the late president Mills ordered to review the constitution, did a poor work. Our constitution is like a toilet paper that should be discarded and a new one written.
Mr. President. try to curb spending and put a halt in expanding the government. Ghana is a small nation that can work better with less Ministers and MPs. It all comes to "commonsense". Yes, I say commonsense because it seems that "thing" missing hence, our inability to make common addition. Stupid.

When you have done that Mr President, let us rein in the excesses of our MP. The constitution seems to have given them a virtual freehand in deciding their emoluments. No one, it seems, can challenge their actions. How come that they voted for themselves 50,000 ghana cedis rent allowance and we the people are saying nothing. Let us make our democracy work by challenging such obviously outrageous decisions by our greedy MPs.

In the speech quoted by this journalist, the president was talking about "hire purchase" not "high purchase". I don't know what "high purchase" is. "Hire purchase" on the other hand is a commercial arrangement where the consumer takes possession of a product and makes periodic payment for its use until the price is fully paid; at which time the equitable ownership is transferred to the consumer.
