Privatising TOR is not a panacea to solving the crises associated with it . The problem lies with the management itself. It is abounded with inefficient management. The VRA which Dr Wereko Brobby was once the head was and still has not been efficiently managed, either. Both businesses need better team to manage them profitably; not hand picks political cronies masquerading as professionals in the field. TOR should remain in the hands of the state with better management team devoid of politics and affiliations. Undoubtedly, Dr Wereko Brobby could be contemplating that its sale would create an ample opportunity to gain from it, hence he's pleading for the sale, but the government should not accede to his suggestion. As he was wrong to say the government does not pay subsidies on petroleum products, so he is, also, wrong to suggest the sale of TOR.

Today the majority people of this country cannot enjoy electricity in our country, no clean drinking water
but Mahama and his junior brother has
looted from the Tax Payers money to purchase for themselves two brand New Jet Aircrafts after buying approximately 6 brand New Rolls Royce
cars.
Ghanaians are not all that fools, when
credible NPP politicians are trying to
save our nation from these NDC arm robbers listen to what this senseless
Wireko Brobey is on about.
Wireko-Brobey was the same person this NDC crooks accused him of stolen
Ghanaian People's money during Ghana@ 50 celeberation. Stupid fool.

For once, I will agree with Dr. Wereko-Brobbey's idea that the Government should privatize TOR. TOR urgently needs a blend of private and state hands to turn the industry round. The CEOs and managers of TOR are just protecting their pockets, pretending and lying between their teeth that they are capable of turning TOR around. Government should, as a matter of urgency, privatize TOR but should hold a majority percentage in the deal

One upon a time Britain was being run like Ghana. The State was involved in all manner of services and productions and all were characterise by losses brought about by inefficiencies. Under Margaret Thatcher the State grudually sold all its interest in all these sectors including, airline, railway, electricity, water, buses etc. Suddenly in the hands of the private sector, these companies that were previously loss making have been turn around and making record profits year on year. In turn the State has benefitted hugely by being able to tax the profits of these multi national and as a consequence the GDP of Britain went through the roof. Ghana would do were to follow the same path. Anything that the State is involve in and is loss making should be privatised forthwith to prevent wasting anymore taxpayer's money propping it up. The money saved could be better used to invest in our hospitls, ploice, fire service etc than to waste covering the loses of perpetual loss making enterprises.

TOR as we have been made to learn has been out of operation for the past seven months and crude oil products were therefore imported into the country by private oil companies. If there is shortage of crude oil products, then the blame must go to the private oil importing companies and not TOR. Has the private oil companies been doing the business like water sachet companies in Ghana? They have all shown that they are not efficient, so why give the business to them.

After many years as CEO for TOR the only solution to the problem Dr Wereko-Brobbey can give is 'to privatise TOR'. Why not point out what the real problems are, and suggest a lasting solution to them? Why should a private company succeed where managers of state enterprises fail? Don't we have managers in our dear country who can save us from this lazy way of thinking? I suggest that the government should set up a commission to take a careful look into the energy situation in the country and implement its findings immediately. We should not dream of industrial developments when we have energy problems on our shoulders. Please stop this lazy talk of privatising and find the solution to the problems. The one who commissioned TOR did not do so for it to be sold. His aim was to make it the basis of our industrial development, to offer jobs for our people and to make us independent of negative outside influences. DR Wereko-Brobbey, please use your experience to solve problems and not to run away from them.

I totally agree with Dr. Brobby's suggestion. Governments in most industrial countries are not in the business of refining crude oil. As a nation we need to grow up and wean ourselves from reliance on government hand outs
