When will people learn to spend their precious time debating important issues affecting the country? The president or, for that matter, any Ghanaian official has the right to WORK with people S/He is comfortable and secured with, because this foolishness of Police officer or Military personnel is just hogwash and stupidity at the highest level. Leave the president alone and let him work with whom his ass is comfortable with.

Suggestions to these dumb heads:

1) Figure out how Ghana can make a needle, TV, car engine, Radio, etc., etc.

2) How to create jobs for the many unemployed Ghanaians wallowing in abject poverty;

3) Figure out how to provide affordable housing to people in Ghana;

4) How to clean up city streets and the stench in our big cities; etc., etc., etc.

"AND STOP THE FOOLISH ARGUMENTS” and find something better to do with your time.

Are we not aware that some presidents are assassinated by their own guards? If he feels safer with a person he has been with for a long period of time, what should be our problem? Let us think about important issues like how the government can improve our electricity, water and fuel supply and prices. How our roads can be developed and reduce accidents on them. Since When Has Military ADC to a Commander in Chief Been a Convention in Ghana?
What an alleged hypocritical statement of a military ADC to the President and Commander-in-Chief had been a convention? A convention from which country, continent or world? This is absurd and lacks basis. A selfish, wicked and mischievous action from the said security officers which is equally unfortunate for Ghana’s democracy. Ghanaian security officers should eschew divisiveness and supremacy but rather work in harmony for the good of the country. This narrow thinking will not help any institution, neither the Ghana Armed Forces nor the Ghana Police Service. These institutions must cooperate, coordinate and support each other instead of fighting. Ghana is bigger than any neither individual nor institution. The So called Castle Security Officers, should stop this folly and work as a team.
Who says the President cannot be a Commander in Chief when his ADC is a Police Officer? Do you really know the history of ADC to democratic Presidents of Ghana and other democratic states? Are you talking about democratic or undemocratic Ghana? Hey, you are ought to do a little research on Ghana foremost, before you venture into international democratic best practices. Who was Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s ADC when Ametewee attempted assassination? That was Chief Superintendent Salifu Dagarti, an equivalent of a Colonel. The Police ADC to the President is also a Chief Superintendent. So, what are talking about here in Ghana? Have you examine the nature and context of Presidential Security duties before and after independence? Do you really know the mix of such operations? I think the Security Officers and the General need to learn and stop this useless and immature debate!
If we go outside Ghana into Africa, then the argument is even more useless when we cite countries. Countries have differing systems of Presidential Security duties and it appears most you there don’t know and appreciate the tasks in your hands. It’s silly for the Security Officers and whoever is inciting them to be worrying about who is an ADC rather than performing Presidential Security duties.
I propose to the Presidency to take this issue seriously and re-examine every individual officer deployed at the Castle. To this effect, the Presidency should consider a complete overall of Presidential Security details? Comprehensive background and psychological analysis checks should be conducted on every officer. The practice for such duties and operations is about discipline, commitment, dedication, loyalty, integrity, professionalism amongst others. There is no ‘whom you know’, favouritism nor ‘this is my boy’ in selection. The best trained, loyal and dedicated officers are needed rather than those fighting about ADCs. The cardinal point hinges on a combination of skills, capacities, loyalty and trust…and nothing less.
If we go to democracies and in particularly advance economies, then the concern raised is baseless. The USA, Britain, Germany, Canada, Russia to mention just a few have the world best Armed Forces. Yet, their Presidents do not use Military ADCs. The Presidents of these countries are the Commander in Chiefs and have extraordinary security. Whether ADC is akin to Military or not, the President and Commander - in - Chief select his ADC, whether Police or Military. God Bless Ghana and protect the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

the ghana armed forces should know that both the police and the military come from the same tree. the colonial masters created these forces long before they left the shores of ghana. the question of who should be the adc to the president should be left in the hands of the president. nkrumah had both military and police adcs. he had the likes of ba yakubu and the late father of dr sipa yankey who were police officers as his adcs. later he used capt sa buckman and major senare as his adcs. i therefore see no reason why this should create a problem between the police and the military. the constitution did not state specifically who should be an adc to the president. even kufour and attah mills also had police adcs besides military adcs.
