  The problems is about people torn between survival and future prospects. What does the future hold for people who are currently struggling to survive. If govt is so rich that MPs can receive 7,200 GH cedis as monthly salaries, yet people working in NYEP receive a pittance of about 150 GH cedis at most once every 4 months, you can expect citizens to engage in all kinds of tactics just to survive. Nonetheless, the greatest onus on the protection of our forest and waterbodies lies on the chiefs and local people. The more patriotic and jealous they are in guarding them against short-term ruthless exploitation, they more the future generation benefits. God bless Ghana. I personally led the youth of my village to drive away a greedy group of self-acclaimed investors whom the chief presented to the elders as development agents. So, indigenes, wake up!

  When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

  I agree Kofi - I have always said that ultimately a population in a country with a deteriorating environment is like a baby suckling from a dying mother. If our land is not ripe or healthy Ghanaians will suffer. Ghanaians do not take the issue of the environment seriously; but if we do not then not only will Ghana become unlivable, but also we will have issues developing a tourist industry or getting Ghanaians who live in clean, environmentally pretty places to come back to Ghana.
  
  There is also a tipping point with every environment; where if it is abused enough it can become near impossible to rehabilitate. What will happen then to Ghanaians? Even the richest people on this planet cannot turn a desert into a forest.

  I'm commenting to contribute to your article that, from tomorrow the 3rd. of March 2013, all timber or tropical hard wood importers in Europe are forced to prove that all imported tropical wood (timber as we commonly name) is legally logged for export & import to & from.
  The environmental reason is one of this new enforced law.
  Congo for example, where illegal timber logging has been taking place for the past years undercover of the legal logging licence; that is to say: illegal logging & exporting under a licence of legal logging for export to the needy west europe at the cost of the local environment, the human living standard & also the widlife there especially in sub-Sahara Africa.
  In the case of Ghana, I dare not to say a word about our gold resources, but for timber at this moment; I'm sure that no illegal timber could be allowed to be imported from Ghana with the effect from 3rd March (tomorrow as I'm writting) to Europe.

  Rev. Asante, there is nothing that God cannot do and almost if not all Christians believe that so what we should ask ourselves is why then will God allow us to go through harships. Prayers alone without doing what is expected of us as servants of God will not fix our economy. The days when manna used to fall from heaven have ceased to exist because of our sins and God has entreated all his servants to work for a living. Telling Ghanaians God can fix our economy without telling the people what they should do to get this blessings from God is shirking of your pastoral duties.
  
  
  "The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church established that no matter how worse our economy has become, the broken homes recorded and marital problems unresolved, we should have hope and believe the bright light at the end of the tunnel would restore things as we prepare to witness the resurrection of Jesus Christ.In order to see this come to pass, Rev. Asante warned politicians, public servants and all individuals to recognize that: “all we need to do as a people is to recognize that when Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, he broke every wall. We shouldn’t allow hatred, kingship, political affiliations and chieftaincy divide us.”
  
  Where is the sermon for the people to work hard, eschew the habit which has become a canker in Ghanaian society,"It's government work". In Ghana government workers are paid to work eight hours but most of them work two hours ou of the eight and use working hours trying to figure out what numbers the National lottery is going to drop doing "Banker to Banker". People leave their offices to go on lunch break at twelve and don't return until 2:00PM and some don't even return at all. We should be teaching our congregation responsibilities and what is expected of them as members of society what they should do to make life better for the whole country instead of the laziness of our people.
  
  
  I believe Reverend Asante has read the Book of Thessalonians in the Bible and should have quoted 2 Thessalonians 3:10, to encourage Ghanaians to work hard instead of telling them prayers alone will fix the economy.
  
  "For even when we were with you, we gave this rule. The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat"
  
  There is no where in the Bible where laziness and corruption is tolerated in exchange for prayers.
  
  
  Sad a man of God instead of entreating Ghanaians to walk the path of Jesus and talk about salvation and deliverance has become a political figure telling Ghanaians God will fix our broken economy through prayers.
  
  It is said that God help those who help themselves and even God through the book of Thessalonians advocated for people to work to earn a living. Reverend Asante should preach about salvation and deliverance and leave what is Ceasar for Ceasar. He should not allow the gifts being heaped on him by this administration to distort and mess the thinking of Ghanaians because prayers alone will not fix any economy not because God cannot do it but because God want us to work for a living.

It is called “natural punishment”. So, the apostles gave some work rule to Christians: “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: ‘If a man will not work, he shall not eat.’”(10) Even, a small insect works hard for survival. Nature works busy. So, the Bible says: “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”(Prov. 6:6)
