"officer integrity and professionalism", you are right Mr. Attafuah. Ghanaians are just too corrupt! Besides the suggested blocking of phone network signals from the prisons (prisoner areas), on the interim, protocols must be put in place to conduct thorough searches on all visitors including family members, any any returning prisoner from any external appointments etc.. and must be enforced!
Such visitors must be made to surrender all electronic gadgets
Also, random (unannounced) searches on all prisoners needs to be done to end the phenomenon.

How can prisoners go to prison rooms with mobile fons? In Ghana once you are in prison, you are obnly entitle to food only not mobile fons.

Smuggling of banned items into prisons is a problem with prisons all over the world and can never be compltely stopped. As Mr Attafuah said sometimes prison officers are involved in smuggling banned items, especially mobile phones into prisons.A very effective prison intelligence system and severe punishments for prison officers and visitors to the prisons[arrest, prosecution and jailing of offenders]will certainly minimise such offences. To totally stop them is impossible-the deterrents must rather be very, very severe and effective.

adopting a technology is not the panacea to production paradox. the next moment a new device may show up again which will make the technology they are planning to get not able to address the issue.matters of ict can only be mitigated since more sophiscated technology can show up again immediately prisons get money to solve the present problem.it will be better for the inmates to get access to communication that is monitored in the prisons itself whilst trying to find other intelligence within its security apparatus to reduce the allegation if it is the case

this is a serious allegation from the police. they(police) sometimes give phones to suspects to make calls. equally the police officers can help a suspect to smuggling a phone into the police cell and use it to give information to other suspects on the run.why do they blame the poor prison officer?prisons public relations officer gives cosmetic answers and would not want to hurt anybody.police are always quick to answer some of these problems.the police should carry thier own load
