Whenever I read some of these appalling conditions of workers and the inhuman treatment by especially foreign companies, I wonder if Ghana has any labour laws on her statutes that protect their citizens from being exploited? These foreign companies cannot do the same in their own countries yet they go to Ghana and treat Ghanaians with contempt and utter disrespect. I blame the authorities who are not enforcing labour labours laws and regulations or even protecting the foreign companies instead of ensuring that these companies respect the laws of the country.

I think Ghana should set up Employment Tribunal courts as exists in the UK to deal with such matters and to check these abuses.

One thing wrong with us is that we decorate ourselves with positions and titles, without even knowing the responsibilities attached to those positions, and without knowing whose responsibility, or what to do when we are reminded it is our responsibility. But we are handicapped by the dole-outs and presents we just collected from the foreigners.
The easiest defense is to fabricate a partisan witch-hunt allegedly propagated from the other side.

This only happens in Ghana where foreign companies fleece the populace and employ a lot of incompentent foreigners.Out polys,technicval institues, artisans are unemployed in their numbers but we allow any body into the country.The 4 miliion dollars is mostly to the contractor and the salaries of the expats. i know they are averaging 12000USD/month for some of them who are incompetent. Ghana Govt wake up, next time there might be fatalities and the whiole world will be shouting. This will not happen in most Southern African countries.Newmont is known for its poor recvord in Indonesia and recently in Peru.

INITIALLY, THE BENEFITS WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE PEOPLE WERE PAID TO TWO CHIEFS FROM AKYEM KOTOKU TRADITIONAL AREA, THAT IS, NANA ANYINASIHENE(FORMER COUNCIL OF STATE MEMBER), AND THE QUEEN MOTHER OF KOTOKU NANA AKUA ASANTEWAA UP UNTILL NANA KOTOKUHENE FRIMPONG MANSO IV PUT INJUNCTION ON PAYMENTS TO THESE TWO CHIEFS WHEN THEY FAILED TO ACCOUNT TO THE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL MONIES PAID TO THEM BY NEWMONT.

This happened to G5 on Tarkwa phase 4, Bogosu Expansion projects. Currently, they take Ghanaain workers to neighbouring B.F and Mali as Expats and pay them in GH Cedis. If we know the hourly rate being charged on this project per artisan ( USD12 -18). Shame onto all these companies.
Lets check the permits of these Expats and see. Almost all of them hold visitor's visa and are working and womANISING AND INFECTING INNOCENT WOMEN WITH ..........
