Thank You for a well written and informative piece. We must continue to shed light on this subject as painful as it might be. I pray for an end to violence against women in this century.

As without woman the world will not be,So always they will be in our lives and they are our mothers sisters wifes,All this issues as u said goe with much education and in which kind of faith we are into,Our religious lifes should play an important role here for Ghanaian as we are into much religiuos bliefs should try all from the woman stand to the man stand and see what is reguide to balance the act,for it aingt easy and so is marriage or livin with someone under the same roof is a work that mant take for granted,So as from any hause should be that the education on how if u one someone to treat ur sister mother with respect so u have to have the will and good intention to do it to some ones sister,The case of paintsil she came out to say its a domestic thing and the guy is feelin bad to what happen we are human and so if in a society that a man should be the head of the hause it dont give the way for un abuse but also sorry but the woman know how to call for problem and this way how men we have to work and try to calm those nerves of walkin out and really knowin in what faith we are in to how we react to such agurments or any problems in a hause, for the temper is a bad thing, once it happen then the regret comes in.May we all Appricate the worth of a woman and really respect them more .

Violence against women continues because of sin in the world. When we value everyone made in the image of God,we will be kind to all. Power and control are the reasons behind the violence against women. Where would any of you be without your mother? How can you allow such things to happen to her and your sisters? O Ghana, come back to God's laws.

WILL SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THE FIRST LADY OF GH IS AND WHY SHE HASNT SAID ANYTHING ABOUT TEENAGE PREGNANCY, FEMAL ABUSE, THE PAINSTIL ISSUE, OR EVEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN AFFAIRS IN GH? ALL SHE IS DOING IS GETTING FAT OFF GH MONEY. AS A FIRST LADY, U HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES. LOOK AT MICHELLE OBAMA AND THE INITIATIVES SHE UNDERTAKES? THE FIRST LADY IF GH MUST GET TOGETHER WITH THE VARIOUS WIVES OF THE REGIONAL MINISTERS AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST SUCH TRIVAL ISSUES.

The Last Minister of Women's and Children during Mills time was not visible on these issues at all, in my opinion- she did not allow herself media coverage on these pertinent issues.. I am not sure as to how the Ministry of Women's Children, or Gender works, but in my opinion, it must be run like an advocacy group, coupled with aggressive media and face to face education against violence against women, children, and men in society.. I just didn't see this ministry doing this at all- she was almost never mentioned in the media or she herself was never in the media--WHY NOT?..
I would like to say that violence is not just against women, but it permeates the larger African society to the extent that the man learns it from his father and grandfather.. Furthermore, many African parents in particular tend to abuse their children( caning, slapping, beating, insulting them with demeaning words), and teachers inflict physical and emotional, and sometimes sexual pain on their students as well.
Thus, the African child in particular, almost has no hope, no matter what environment he or she is in. Thus, the triumph of the African child over these atrocities is but the triumph of the human spirit over adversity itself.
There is a root cause here that I believe is often overlooked and that is VIOLENCE BY HUMAN BEINGS AGAINST OTHER HUMAN BEINGS in general.. Until the root cause is tackled, scratching the surface of violence against women cannot be reached.
However, I am glad you did write this article and I am leaving a comment to encourage you to continue to bring this topic and others vital ones to the forefront always.
And, I am not surprised that your thought provoking piece did not garner much comments... It speaks to the interest we take against issues of gender and violence in our societies.
Thank You for a well written and informative piece. We must continue to shed light on this subject as painful as it might be. I pray for an end to violence against women in this century.
