I do think we need decency at this forum. All should frown on idiocy and stupidity. God has blessed us with a head and a brain in there to think and make analysis. We need to use that brain to think therefore. A french philosophy, Descarte says, I think therefore I am. That means that humans are thinking beings and hence their existence. You exist on this earth to think and possibly solve problems. Unless you are an idiot who does not have the capacity to think and solve problems. Having said this, this forum comes across internationaly. Your views on this forum is read world wide if you are ignorant and don't know. The earlier you desist from such idiocy the better.

The government should establish a Public Appointment Commission made of up of experts who will advertise all such vacancies on public bodies, receive applications, shortlist and interview candidates and then make recommendations to the President or the appointing authority to make the final decisions. That is what happens here, though it is not devoid of politics. Most Chairs of public bodies are politicians from the ruling party or sympathetic to the party. For example, the Chairman of the BBC Trust(Board), Lord Patten is a typical example. However, the difference here is that they are appointed on merit and not just for political reasons. They also apply for the role and attend interviews with the Appointment Commissions as all others. All the role have prescribe job description and person specifications that are used to shortlist applicants for interviews.
I also think that the President should no longer appoint Board members of public bodies, instead, sector ministers should appoint them so that they report to ministers and not the President. I am talking from experience because I applied for, attended interviews with the Public Appointment Commission and was appointed onto two public bodies not by the Prime Minister but by the respective sector ministers.
There is nothing wrong with rewarding political loyalty through political patronage. It happens even in the developed democracies. Obama will appoint people who made large contributions to his 2012 campaign into some positions such as Ambassadors and onto public bodies. It's paid back time, provided those appointed have the skills and expertise for the roles. That is the difference in Ghana.

I take your suggestion as balance and worth considering by the authorities.Public body appointments must be made not only on merit but such appointments must not be at the expense of your formal duties to your normal job.A case in point is the Secondi lawyer who refused to go on transfer because he claims he has been appointed by the president on the Distract Assembly. Surprisingly a judge upheld it and seem to say his duty to the assembly over ride his responsibility to his employers as a solicitor of that company.I find that judgement disgusting so i suggest such appointments must not be made at the expense of your duty and responsibility as an emplyee. For a judge to say the transfer is wrong because of the appointment, begets believe. In effect appointment to public bodies must not be at the expense of your employment. If you think there is a conflict you must choose one and not both.

The role of boards of public entities needs to be re-evaluated and abolished as they have outlived their usefulness in their purported role as oversights of management. The quality and caliber of people appointed to such boards, often as political patronage, is such that the board plays no useful role in the functioning of the organization. They only meet to have lunch, collect sitting fees, embark on meaningless overseas junkets in order to collect per Diem and award contracts to themselves and their cronies. To add insult to injury, the chairman's role is treated like a full time job with perks like free housing, cars, gas etc. What a fucking waste. Between these hopeless boards and the unnecessarily large number of uninformed and lazy parliamentarians(thanks to the imbecile Afari Djan), public expenditure consumes 70% of our budget leaving little or nothing for infrastructural development, education and schools. Lazy and dishonest bastards. Go get a real job for a change and stop feeding at the public trough!

Making sense makes sense, but not in Ghana. How is your idea going to fill my pocket is what we are interested in. It is unfortunate but that's the way it is.

we move from one controversy to another and in the meantime avoid dealing with the real issues , as long as pepeni continues to appoint these good for nothing glorified incompetent chichiga sellers we shall never have peace. rashid is supposed to be in charge of ppp so our economic planning has evolved. we aspire to be a tourist country and as such hope to with the help of rashid encourage another 5 million tourists every season to enjoy our hospitality. now this goat herder does not know nor has he done any analysis what kind of structure of people will one day come predominantly to the coastal areas of the country or the behavioral norms but straight away would put 30% of them in jail. he would deny the country a 5 to 15 billion dollar industry , an industry that will enable the common man with an extra room in his house a 100$ a day revenue ? rather he chooses that we accept homosexuals who spend nothing but forever destroy the souls of the unsuspecting ? give me the wee smokers and you take the asses of the gay sodomizing perverts. all sectors of industry must be developed and if we can not have ministers who are truly competent and stop this job for the boys stupidity we are doomed. mr rashid and pepeni should resign and go away immediately
