When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

The making many at all cost trend that has engulfed this country of ours since 2001 to date is frightening to say the least. I would not be surprised that this moey released by government is by now lodged in some fix deposit account just for some individual(s)to make a turn-over in terms of interest. I know , what I am talking about. In eraly 80's that was the begining of the bane of big state corruption in NIgeria. Where an individual could hold to ransome a whole state project because of fix deposit interest. If the culprit(s) is (are) not fired from their posts and then dragged to court rhen we should brace up for the worse

Mr Tahiru A Hakeem, I do not doubt that Ghanaian GET Fund students in the UK might not have received their allowances but some aspects of your statement are over exaggerated or are fabricated. I do not believe that any UK university knowing very well that foreign student are on government sponsored programme will institute legal action to evict the students form their accommodation for non-payment of rent. In fact, even if the students are in private accommodation the university authorities will try to assist in avoiding the students being evicted whilst they wait for their living allowances from their home government.

I am saying so because, I have attended two universities here in the UK and experienced the support available to both home and foreign students in financial difficulties. Again, I once served as a member of a Governing body of an academic institution and I am aware of how such matters are handled.

No doubt you guys may be facing very difficult challenges without funds but do not try and create the impression that your various university authorities are that wicked to institute legal action against you to evict you from university accommodation. That may happen in Ghana but not in the UK. That will happen as a matter of last resort.

Universities here in the UK do their best to ensure that students complete their studies successfully because failure and withdrawals do affect their status on the academic league table. I am sure if University of Dundee authorities read your statement, they would not be very please with you. I hope GET Fund resolve this matter as a matter of urgency because it is a disgrace for Ghana.

Well, to your information, if some students' account to access university facilities are blocked when the grace period given has elaped and the same university will go and intervene in private affair? GETFund can confirm to you that they have been given up to March to pay otherwise, students will be prevented from accessing university facilities. Moreover, those properties are private and when the Land Lords tries to contact GETFund through mail and phone calls to confirm their stories, GETFund never responded. They therefore assumed the students were lying to them. You can try calling GETFund official number now and see if you will get a response. They have developed a culture of silence. All attempt to contact GETFund was futile and when I called the Ghana High Commission Education Unit, the lady in charge Mrs Asamoah said for four days, all her attempts to contact GETFund, no one answers. The issues are not being exagerated. It never happens this way and we need competent authorities to response. Am happy you are in UK and you know Ghanaian approach to doing things is so terrible. Lets condemn it.

I do not believe that a country like ours, should engage in such sponsorships at this time. The amount budgetted for the GETFUND should be used on local training, in order to make it cover more. I am sure most of the sponsored courses currently in play could be done very inexpensively at home.

Just my humble opinion.

Also if you entered into a contract with GETFUND you may be able to claim a breach of contract or a breach of a warranty which could mean compensation of some kind. Speak to your local university for advice or the international students office at the local Student Union who may be able to raise the issue officially with the Chancellor of the UK university you are at who may at their discretion postpone evictions.
