Cant you see how the Ashantihene is making good use of his royalty to fund education. Abudu royals indeed. Everybody seems to be blaming Dagombas for lack of understanding or whatever. In actual fact it is just a few VERY GREEDY and cruel people who team up with politicians to turn this into a wedge issue to be used for winning votes.

Yes it is true that the Dagbon chieftaincy conflict has been around for decades because it has been used by every politician to favour either the Andani or Abudu family for the sake of getting their votes. Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai died since around 1988 and his funeral should have been performed back then, but the Andani family refused to co-operate. And with the support Rawlings and others the problem has remained until now.

When Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani was killed in 2002 during the chieftaincy conflict the problem got worse after Wuaku commission concluded because the Andani side refused to accept the commision's findings and proposals. The eminent chiefs appointed by the government and led by the Asantehene suggested that following the ROAP MAP TO PEACE, the Abudus should be allowed to perform the funeral of Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai first because he died before Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani. The Abudu family agreed to it but the Andani family refused to obey the suggestions laid down by the Eminent chiefs.

In my humble opinion what is lacking is the political will of the present and past politicians who have allowed this problem to carry on for all these years. I think the present administration should ask both families to chose dates for performing the funerals Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai and Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani respectively and thereafter let the elders of Dagbon choose a new Yaa-Naa based on the rotation system that both families have already agreed to. For the sake of peace if any of the two families refuse to allow the other the right to perform any of their customary rites the government should use the power of the state to ensure that no side denies the other their right. In an honest and just political climate that is how it should be so that peace will return to Dagbon. The people of Ghana and Dagbon in particular are sick and tired of just a few GREEDY BASTARDS hijacking this problem for their own greedy and wicked interests.

However, I was forced to comment on Dagbanbia's comments. His/her position is rather ironic and contradictory, in the sense that, the very Abudus who claim they stand for peace were the very group that killed the Ya-Na and forty others, burnt down the palace that housed the very remains of the person (Na Mahamadu) whose funeral they pretend they want to perform thereby destablizing the peace Dagbong enjoyed for over two and a half decades, and organized a series of traditional dances during funerals in Yendi for the dead who had nothing to do with traditonal funeral rites just to delibrately inflame passions when the remains of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II was still in the morgue, an abomination detested by any well-meaning Dagomba. Now they hypocritically want to paint to the world a picture that the Andanis are trying to create confusion. You have distroyed, that's what you are known for, why should you be included in the construction process? You should rather think of our good image you've dented and step back for God-fearing minds to build our land. Also consider the insults others rain on us and shut up!
