Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them.

What all of these nations did and continue to do is to reform their schools, they engage in perpetual improvement of how they teach and how they assess what their students are mastering. Ghana needs to emulate what they are doing.

Occasionally, a politician steps forward and speaks sensibly and forthrightly, only to be attacked by the wound up dolls, who cannot think outside of their ethnic, party or other bias'.

In fairness to some the critics, the real problem is the fact that inside the NDC &NPP there are some very bright, conscience and dedicated people, however, the parties to which they belong, lack a clearly defined ideology, objective, programs designed to benefit the masses as we work toward a better Ghana, integrity/history of corruption of the these two parties, weak vision less leaders, in short, a few good people in weak neocolonial parties.

Long live the good politicians (regardless of political parties,) who are genuinely trying to make a difference in the lives of African children, keep on pushing for you will be truly be blessed by our great African ancestors.

'It takes a village...’ to raise / educate a child. It would be helpful if all, including Ministers (of state, of religion, etc.), accepted a share of the RESPONSIBILITY for the outcomes of education.

What troubles me is that people at the TOP of institutions of learning, not just teachers, are neither rewarded nor reprimanded, much less fired, for performance in our schools. This is troubling considering that education takes one of the biggest chunks of our government expenditures (and tax payer money). It is a royal fraud to continue to spend significantly more each year on an enterprise that seems to give us less and less in returns.

If the primary business of public schools is to improve student achievement, then we should have ALL the 'village' elders being held ACCOUNTABLE for those results. That means from the Minister of Education all the way to heads of schools: their positions, pay, and presence should be subject to change based on student performance. That is a central requirement for having them attend to the right things. When was the last time you heard that any of these 'village' heads got fired for the poor performance of students under their jurisdiction?

And while we are at it, we must recognize that teachers should be accountable for the student achievement as well. So must parents and students themselves! Between my days in school (decades ago) and today, I have noticed a creeping tendency in Ghana towards convenience / laziness / short cuts, indolence, and general lack of diligence amongst more and more parents, students, teachers, heads of schools, officials in ministries, etc. They all seem to be more diligent in the STYLE and FORM of pomp, pageantry, prestige, pay, perks, power, and politics than in the SUBSTANCE, and FUNCTION of improving student achievement.
PS:

For several years, as examination time approaches, I watched with concern the growth in student numbers in the fields, parks, and places used for prayer on one major university campus in Ghana. I am certain that this is replayed in multiple schools. Some students are seen holding their books on top of their heads, praying that the information would somehow go into their heads. Many have been heard praying that their examiners would be lenient in their assessments. What is troubling is that some students spend MORE time in religious programs (and there are growing numbers and roles) than on their primary occupation of studying. Some believe that prayer is a replacement for the hard work of studying. That is truly sad. Perhaps religious leaders need to emphasize the importance of hard work, in addition to prayer.
