Hardships could give way to military action – Nkrumah

Sekou Nkrumah Hands

Dr Sekou Nkrumah says government’s approach to addressing the country’s economic challenges could invite a military takeover.

Speaking on Okay FM in Accra he said that indecisiveness on the part of the presidency coupled with the erratic supply of power and water is an indication that the country is in an absolute mess.

It is glaring that the actions of government are compounding the already terrible situation rather than addressing it, Dr Sekou Nkrumah is reported to have said.

The third son of Ghana’s first president cautioned that the prevailing circumstances could lead to serious disturbances, akin to what transpired in Egypt and Tunisia a few years ago.

Shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and the unreliable supply of power and water, he noted, were the legacies of late President Atta Mills.

Against that backdrop, he advised President John Mahama to desist from acts that could leave the military with no other option than to intervene.

President Mahama can only avert a military action if he humbly announces his resignation, Dr Sekou insisted.

Dr. Sekou Nkrumah announced his resignation from the NDC in last year citing bad economic policies.

He publicly endorsed Nana Akufo-Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. What is really wrong with Mahama? He is taking Ghanaians for fools and there is going to be takers like this Benny Wood and the likes of the Obinims who will avail themselves of this opportunity for a nice vacation that comes with $10,000 per each individual as a per diem apart from their accomodation and transportation.

Does these con men and fake Bishops have to go to Isreal to be bold and strong? Will that cure their kleptomaniac ways and sleeping with their church members?

Mahama should be tried and remove from office for abuse of power if he goes ahead and allow this nonsense to happen.

Mills and NDC did this before where the NDC Pastors were given $10,000 to spend in Isreal as a per diem. Ghanaians should take their tribal blinkers off and see what they have imposed on themselves, a clueless, unintelligent, corrupt and a womanizer despot called Mahama.

Is it for them to "bond" and be given some lessons on how to be more responsible citizens and of better service to their communities and Ghana? If it is purely for "spiritual awareness or experience", then I simply think this is a complete waste of tax-payers' money by the government. What is it that they will experience 'spiritually' in Israel that they cannot experience at home? It seems to me there is something missing in the story about what the purpose of the trip is and I wish I could be enlightened. From my own personal experience, spiritual experience can be gained anywhere if you prepare yourself properly and 'are in the zone'.

About a year ago now I was invited to give a lecture to pastors who had gathered at the UNDP offices in Nairobi, Kenya. The topic was on their role in promoting good nutrition and health in their countries and how they could support country level nutrition programmes that impact their communities. This I thought was a laudable venture and I supported it. They came from 18 different countries across Africa.

But in this case, I side with the Catholic Church if it is true that they are asking their priests not to join 'the expedition'. It is true that there are spiritual experiences that people experience when they go on pilgrimages all over the world. But what have these pastors done to earn such a 'free ride' in this case and if they wanted to experience 'spiritual awakening' then why don't they plan their own trip and pay their way? I welcome government trying to work with the clergy and civil society to promote harmony, tolerance and peace, but I doubt if this gesture will foster such a relationship. I also seriously doubt if such a trip will change mindsets among certain 'Christian Groups' and their attitude towards government. I find it curious that the so-called "Concerned Clergy" are putting their weight behind this trip. Am I missing something? Somebody please help me.

Bishop Prince Benny Wood' s pitch that the trip would help "the pastors to be bold and be strong in The Lord" is weak and self-serving. He and his 200 pastors obviously don't care about the fact that many Ghanaians have problems with meeting their water and energy needs. The God of Israel will definitely not look on those making this pilgrimage with favour and divine guidance.

President Mahama would do well to sponsor 200 engineers and environmentalists to watch and study how the nation of Israel is solving its water and energy challenges.

While in Israel, the 200 Ghanaian scientists should visit the following:
The Besor Restoration Project to learn about the effective streams restoration, the Multi-year Water Allocation System (MYWAS) whose aim is to achieve the most efficient water resource management possible, Gomeh Reservoir near Kiryat Shemona that provides 530 million gallons of water each year to farms in northern Israel, what about the Sderot or Haner Reservoirs, located in the northwest Negev, where these two recycled water reservoirs provide a combined capacity of more than 860 million gallons piped to farming communities.
They can help us with green technology, and tourism.
When you look at the top 10 countries in the world in terms of agriculture, technology, medical breakthrough and culture, Israel makes the list. Let us send our youth there to learn about their incredible success.
