  I like this paragraph "We need visionary leaders, the likes of Dr Mahathir Muhammed of Malaysia, or the likes of Hu Jin Tao of China, or Lee Kuan Yew of Sngapore. We should create an enabling environment in Ghana so that the remittances from Diasporeans can be usefully channeled into viable investment projects." Because we have gov't with low IQ, the country need people with vision, people who can forcast upto ten years projection, not shot sight vision. After 56 years people lack common water to drink. Very soon we will be importing plantain and gari from China.

  Answer: No, never. What are the functions of the Ghanaian foreign diplomatic offices? The already overbloated Ghanaian civil service needs NO Ministry of Diaspora anything.
  
  "Can’t the Ghanaian Government influence the banks in Ghana to set up special incentives to entice many in the Diaspora to bank home, such as what obtains in India where inward deposits from Indian Diasporeans attract special high interest rates of up to 10%? I am aware that UnitTrust Bank in Ghana has a similar scheme in place as in 2003, one of my friends in South Africa benefitted from such a scheme. Interest rates in the UK and USA are abysmally low for depositors, some as negligible as a pitiable 1%.
  
  Answer: The anti business government of Ghana that depends on foreign aid and handouts will NEVER sign on to such a scheme. If the government depended solely on internal revenue to operate, it would find more creative incentives to have diasporans establish savings in Ghana.

  The answer is NEVER. The government doesn't see you as a potential taxpayer and businessman who'll aid in the reduction of unemployment. You need to be slapped with punitive taxes because you have deep pockets to have the nerve to bring in imports and you ought to subsidize the salary of civil servants.

  The answer is NEVER. It plays no vital part in their quest for big cars and mansions.

  The answer: NONE. Research? For research come tomorrow.

  The answer: Such growth on paper is as false as a three dollar bill. Whoever worked such growth rates didn't even take into consideration how much of that false growth depends on grants and aid coming in to help certain sectors of the economy. Also oil has something do with the supposed high growth. And you know such numbers are nothing but bulldroppings from 4.5ft high behind a zebu cow.
  
  Lie #1: "The Chinese economic growth model started with statism or the command economy, which led to huge infrastructural development"
  
  The huge infrastructural development was NOT the result of Statism as you assert. Chinese infrastructure was poor for a long time. The West gifted them with manufacturing jobs which created lots and lots of wealth for the Communist Chinese, who expanded and improved on their infrastructure. Communist wages are cheap and manufactured goods are cheaper thereby, a win-win for all.
  
  Lie #2: "However, China’s economic discipline, combined with state capitalism, have led to stupendous economic gains, making her the second largest economy in the world, overtaking Japan and trailing behind the USA"
  
  China has nothing as economic discipline. They were gifted the dirty manufacturing from the West and leveraged their huge workforce to churn products at slave labor wages.
  
  Cousin, where's the essence of your topic: "The IMPACT of globalization on Ghana's economy?"
  
  You again deviate to talk about the economic evolution of South Korea, Malysia, China, India, Singapore and the Meiji Restoration.
  
  Again where is the supposed "impact" of globalization on Ghana's economy besides talking about remittances?
  
  Change the brand of Zambian beer you've been drinking and stay on topic. Stay on topic to sell the points in your article.
  
  And who is Michael Porter and why is he quoted in this article? He's a nobody but just an author and not a pioneer researcher of any theory or idea so stop quoting authors to look learned.

  Sending money home has nothing to do with "patriotism", it's about self-interest (paying your children's school fees, building your house, feeding your hungry mother, etc.). Even then, the vast majority of Ghanaians don't send home anything becausing they themselves live from hand-to-mouth (over 90% of them). They are struggling to survice. If you don't want to feed oyur hungry mother and build you dream house, fine but stop disturbing our ears about your remittances.
  
  If you read the Bank of Ghana's report carefully, you will realise that worker remittances are a small part of overall remittances. Stop blowing your own horn, Atta, and come home to help build Mother Ghana. The money is here, not there.

  Slavery had profound negative effects on the victims of slavery and the nations of their birth while the slave masters and traders rejoiced and thanked their God for delivering unto them human cargo to till and toil their land, help build roads and bridges, help raise families of their slave masters not to mention the free sex/rape slave masters and or owners enjoyed from their female slaves or half humans as some would like us to accept and believe.. The moral equivalent of slavery and the effects of the global economic melt-down on developing nations are the same. It was not the actions or inactions in developing nations that caused the global economic meltdown; it was the greed and wanton disregard for intellectual honesty or truth and the arrogance of polished and educated thieves in developed and so-called emerging markets the caused the economic downfall and yet the trickle down effects of their ungodly acts came to hurt developing nations in more ways than one. Should in case Kwesi Atta Sakyi cannot comprehend issues of cause and effects because of the bean counting profession he chose, those who brought about the downfall of global banking and financial institutions are the very ones who dictate pricing for every single natural and mineral resource from developing nations. They decide how much to pay for what we produce; take it or leave it. In business it is called economic leverage. These are the very things those in the Diaspora do learn and learn well. and yet cannot practice effectively when they descend into their respective birth nations for vacations and or engage in business. There is no developed nation on earth where land prices and or the prices of homes are the sole dictates of foreigners and or their citizens in the Diaspora. It is only in Africa that land and home prices have become the sole dictates of our sons, daughters and siblings in the Diaspora. Do visitors from the Diaspora go to banks to engage in most financial transaction? Do they pay their fair share of taxes? They, like all who still reside in each African nations choose to seek ways to avoid paying taxes and yet expect governments struggling to come up with funds to pay wages and pensions of civil servants to provide the various infrastructures required for development. Learning is not about the ability to memorize and obtain some meaningless diploma or certificates; it’s about absolute understanding and real life applications of those theories learned guided by moral principles. Nothing else will do; Mr. Sakyi.

Drink deep or taste not the Pierian Springs where shallow droughts intoxicate the brain and drinking deeply sobers the mind once again" I learnt this poem in 1964 in form 2. I do not rub shoulders with intellectual scoundrels and dwarfs like you. I shudder for your lack of insight and cosmetic analysis of global events. Your cause and effect analysis does not hold water. Where in my write-up was there an exegesis of slavery? Even the so called slavery was a conjoined crime committed between some of our forebear accomplices and the white traders. Where did you school? Sans cullotte!
