Man kills wife over missing eggs

A disagreement between a husband and his wife over some missing eggs has caused the death of the woman.

Ama Jejeba, 26, who was allegedly pummelled into unconsciousness by her husband, ""Kojo Tawiah"" as the disagreement turned fatal was pronounced dead on arrival at the Tarkwa Government Hospital

The incident, which took place at Dompem in the Western Region last Wednesday, has thrown the township into shock.

Police sources told the Daily Graphic that the suspect allegedly accused the wife of picking some eggs from his hen coop which the deceased denied.

The sources said the suspect started invoking curses on whoever might have collected the eggs.

They said the woman advised the husband to stop invoking curses, since it was late in the night.

According to the sources, the suspect allegedly took offence and started assaulting his wife.

The police said some residents allegedly rushed to intervene after the woman allegedly hit her head on a drain.

The sources said the rescuers rushed her to the Tarkwa Government Hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Tarkwa Hospital morgue while her husband, Tawiah, had been placed in custody assisting in investigations.

It is only when our wise pastors refused such an unnecessary expenses that Mahama is telling Ghanaians the truth about the sponsorship. If the pastors had kept quite and accpted that $2m would have vanished gone into someones pocket. Thereare many questions to ask anyway, why will a private organisation take $2m to sponsor pastors to go to Israel and pray for Ghana. May the the Government is put in-charge of these project. You need to exercise patience and ask the president. The donor may be is coming from outside Ghana. They would laugh at what is happening. Note Some Christians always complain that the Government is helping Muslims when they are going to Mecca. They arrange a whole plane for them. They even built a hajj village for them. What is the government doing for Christians? Those are the arguments. If the Christians refused it means Muslims must make their own arrangements when going to Mecca.I think that is the signal. Mr. President, if this is how they would blame you for a genuine offer from Private group through the government, then do not allow any government facilities be used for any religious activities. When he went to Ivory Coast, Togo and Bukano Faso he promised to supply them our electricity and water knowing perfectly well that these people know about our difficulties. That made him look less serious a leader in their eyes. He came home and told us the electricity problems would be over by mid November 2012 and our streets would be named and houses numbered. He even went ahead to tell us our problems over water would be over before election. I remember laughing when he promised to change all traffic lights into solar powered bulbs. The one-man church pastors are the cause for all our woes in this country. This is where all the prosperity preaching sermons take place and therefore attract such dubious sponsors of trips to please the government( South Africa ??? also ).

If these crooks mean well for this country, they should use these monies to build drains in Nima and other deprived areas. They should build factories to employ our youth, and so help curb armed robbery, instead of employing this sort of 419 trip to further worsen our problems.

In the first place,why is there a need for our government to play the role of a facilitator for these swindlers who exploit their parishioners daily for millions.Why can't they arrange for their own pilgrimage,huh?
Secondly,as long as we expect our government to do everything for us and be involved in our daily lives at whichever turn,such rip offs would continuously persist in our national affairs.
The larger role we expect our government to play in our lives,the more opportunities these public servants would have to run our scant resources dry under the guise of "helping us" out.

We have our hospitals as death transit camps, people are dying like flies for want of proper medicines, equipment and health care infrastructure, poor roads, shamble educational system, and you talking about millions of dollars to sponsor pastors to Israel? God wants you to spend the money on the poor, Mr Mahama. God doesn't like over-looking the poor. How will such trip alleviate the suffering your government has sentence the Ghanaian into?

In most welfare-minded nations, such philanthropic activities are geared towards programs to benefit the poor.

Stop putting money into the pockets of your political sponsors and cronies, and think about the poor. Do you think about computers for schools, a needed investment?

The government facilitating a pilgrimage to Israel for a few selected pastors is mindboggling; no wonder the pastors don’t want any part of it. I hope this government assistance is not an attempt to even things out because of its role in facilitating logistical assistance for Muslims’ pilgrimage to Mecca. The president should be reminded that Ghana is a secular state and therefore the government has no business in religions affairs. It should neither be facilitating nor sponsoring a trip for any religions body.

This is not the Hajj and even with the Hajj, individuals save over many years to prepare themselves for the trip and government assists mainly with consular issues and safety. The separation of Church and State MUST be seen to be adhered to at all times irrespective of personal intentions. Sorry Mr President, I am not with you on this one.
