Judge Kpegah is very "Old School". Whatever information he holds about Nana, he shouldn't lose sight of the fact that one doesn't have to have as it were, formal classroom training to become a Legal Practitioner. We are training so-called Barristers in Ghana who have never stood before a Judge. A lot of Legal Practitioners from yesteryear trained on the job. The difference is that they do not have a Right of Audience in a Higher Court of Law.
These days, some Law Firms train their trainees on the job rather than put them through Formal academic training
programmes.
Perhaps he should ask; not all trainees at the big Law Firms in the UK studied Law at the First degree level.

NPP flagbearer in the 2012 general elections, Nana Akufo-Addo has been dragged to an Accra High Court accused of impersonation. Former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Francis Kpegah is suing the NPP flagbearer for holding himself out as a lawyer when evidence available to him from sources such as the General Legal Council proves otherwise. The writ filed on March 18, 2013 also indicted former President Kufuor for appointing Nana Akufo-Addo as Attorney General who doubled as the leader of the Ghana Bar Association.
In his statement of claim, Justice Kpegah said he became suspicious of Nana Akufo-Addo because his name was not on the roll of lawyers in Ghana and yet he was being given audience in the courts.

He further stated that when he caused a discreet investigation to be conducted, it was revealed that Nana Akufo-Addo was never called to the Ghana Bar but “rather one W.E.D Akufo-Addo who was called to the middle temple in the United Kingdom on the 22nd of July, 1971 and on the roll of lawyers in Ghana as No.1190. Justice Kpegah claimed it was illegal when former President Kufuor appointed Nana Akufo-Addo as the Attorney General because in his view he was not a “lawyer in good standing.” According to him “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is impersonating W.A.D Akufo Addo who is on the roll of lawyers as No. 1190.
“The plaintiff finally avers that there is no lawyer in Ghana worth his salt who can say that you are called to the English Bar you can automatically practice in Ghana without being called to the Ghana Bar,” Justice Kpegah stated in his writ.

The plaintiff is therefore seeking seven reliefs from the court including: “A declaration that on a true and proper interpretation of the General Legal Council Act, Act 38 of 1960 (as amended) unless a person is called to the Bar in Ghana and his name entered in the Roll of Lawyers by the body mandated under the said Act 38 (as amended) to regulate the training and certification of persons after a prescribed course of study, that person cannot be deemed competent to practice law in any court of Ghana.” He is also asking the court to declare that Nana Akufo is not entitled to practice law in Ghana. A declaration that the Law Firm established as Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co. at 67 Kojo Thompson Road, Adabraka, Accra is an illegal law firm and therefore not competent to represent any party in litigation before any court in Ghana.

He also prayed to the court that “A perpetual injunction restraining the said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from holding himself out as a lawyer competent to practise in the Ghanaian courts or anybody regards him as such.” Justice Kpegah further asked the court to close down the Akufo-Addo, Prempeh and Co law firm.

I also believe that former Justice Francis Kpegah’s legal action against Mr. Akufo-Addo has nothing to do with the government. It is supposedly about two legal minds fighting within the confines of the profession they both love. It has everything to do with the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), which is an autonomous body constitutionally mandated to regulate the legal profession and of course those practise law or call themselves, lawyers.

Back In those days, it is possible that he was fast-tracked because his father and family were extremely powerful. He was a rebel with a cause.

Nana probably did not have to go through the normal procedure because he already had the English Bar certificate and a wink here and a nod here, a few handshakes and hey presto, he was practising at the Ghana Bar.

Nana probably changed his Christian name from William to Nana for a reason. Does he have a caution or criminal record, for instance?

I am sure if we dig deeper, we will find that several so-called lawyers and big wigs, may have been whisked through the Ghana Makola Bar with no questions asked.

Little did we know that it would come back to haunt us years later. Never mind, William or Nana, he may have to go back to Ghana Bar School and redeem himself. All the abrofosem will soon be exposed!! Kpegah, this is a case that will attract a lot of attention world-wide.

On the other hand, this may be a personal vendetta by a judge who was overlooked due to party and tribal politics. Let the games begin.. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the court room.

" My Lord, I put it to you that I am a lawyer of good standing at the Ghana Bar. Ghana practises English Law. I passed the English Bar, despite the marijuana. They let me in so the Ghana Bar was a mere formality. It was easy peasy. I woke up one morning and my daddy said, Son, you have been called to the Ghana Bar, this is your certificate." (Exhibit number 1) Blame my daddy. I had nothing to do with it.

Kpegah, "Your Honour, I put it to you that this gentleman is not a lawyer at the Ghana Bar." William A. D. Akufo-Addo was called to the Ghana Bar in 1975 without the requisite formalities. If William subsequently changed his name to Nana, the Ghana Bar Council was not informed at the time and there is no change of name deed to support this. I debunk the whole schenanigans of this person. This is my proof (Exhibit 2).

In conclusion: we have proved our case beyond reasonable doubt that the said Nana Addo is not a lawyer and has to go back to Ghana Bar School for one year to gain the proper qualifications and certificate. Bang, bang bang the gavel!!!!

It has come at a time the governing party is in a serious pensive mood regarding the state of the economy with the myriad of socio-economic problems confronting the nation; left, right, centre and everywhere! The election result challenge also hangs as an albatros. At least this could best be described as an upper cut in boxing palance. ENOUGH IS THE LOSE AND UNINTELLIGENT TALKS BY OBAA YAA. I WONDER WHAT SHE TAKES GHANA FOR/. IF WHAT JUSTICE KPEGLAH IS SAYING CAN BE PROVED THEN GHANA IS IN A VERY PRECARIOUS POLITICAL SITUATION. BESIDES IT PUTS A BIG QUESTION MARKS ON THE LEGITIMATE QUALIFICATIONS OF OUR POLITICIANS. MOST OF THEM GHANAIANS BELIEVE HOLD FRAUDULENT/BOGUS QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATE AND UNFORTUNATELY, THEY ARE THE LOUD ONES AND ALWAYS TRYING HARD TO BE SEEN TO BE RELEVANT AND CALLING THEMSELVES THE 'BRAINS'. ANYWAY, IT IS THE EMPTY BARREL THAT MAKES THE LOUDEST NOISE. PARLIAMENT, THE GHANA LAW SOCIETY, NPP, KUFUOR AND THE LAW SCHOOL ETC MUST EXPLAIN THEIR SITUATIONS TO THE PEOPLE OF GHANA IF REALLY JUSTICE KPEGLAH'S CLAIM IS TRUE. LET'S SHOW CIVILITY BY WAITING FOR THE COURT. I SIMPLY CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!.

Now he needs prayers from pastors. Did they(NDC) not insult all the pastors who advised him to be careful about his thievery? Teachers are not paid well. There is water shortage in Ghana and the electricity is malfunctioning. If there is such money from philantrophists, why not use the money wisely than to act so stupid as sponsor 200 pastors to Israel only to pray to God who listens to prayers everywhere. This tells me that the president lacks wisdom and Bible knowledge. Only a fool will think about making such a mistake.

During the time of Justice Wiredu as Chief Justice, at a prayer meeting where prayers were being prayed for Ghana, there was a prophesy that God had made Justice Wood as CJ of Ghana. After the meeting, i enquired from a friend lawyer who Justice Wood was. I was surprised to know the name referred to a woman. My friend the lawyer then told me there were senoirs to her and that it would be impossible. Then CJ Wiredu got sick and in came Acquah. Had it not been for my trust in God i would have doubted the prophesy. Then finally she was named CJ. I understand that Justice Kpegah was the senior then and has never forgiven the NPP. But his behavoiur has now convinced me that Ghana is blessed not to have had him as CJ. This case is just like some people taking RAwlings to court that he cannot be President when we all know JJ has no other country but Ghana. Where has Kpegah been all these years? Did NAna Addo not come before him in court before? With CJ Wood, i have watched her from the distance and can assure her that as long as she strives yes strives to do what is right before God and man, no one but God will remove her from office. God bless Ghana. By the way our prayer group was made up of young boys and girls. We have and are growing graciously.
