His writings brought out African culture and its wealth of wise sayings. We all need to be proud of that . That is what our so called PHDs should be doing, selling our rich culture instead of running it down

'Things Fall Apart' was a Literature textbook for my 'O' levels at Acimota school and I enjoyed it immensely. Achebe made Africa proud and will be sorely missed.

No matter what one might say or which bandwagon that person might choose to follow, the fact will still be there that, only Africans who during their life time used their status and abilities to fight for the political and continental unity of Africa would have achieved spiritual immortality. The Africa Union should honour Achebe as a true son of Africa.
He was a trailblazer in the fight for independence of our continent from colonial rule.
In 'Things Fall Apart' he exposed the hypocrisy of the whiteman in using false premises to justify the colonial rape of our continent - the false notion that the whiteman was superior, and that our people were uncivilised.
'Things Fall Apart' was a catalyst for African writing. Achebe inspired a whole generation with this classic, and continues to inspire us today.
Achebe was a gift to the world. Generations yet unborn will read his books and appreciate this great man's
Pioneering role in liberating our continent from colonial subjugation.

Great son of man, Chinua Achebe: May your soul rest in perfect peace. Though you have left us physically yet your God given ability you put to use shall forever be with the sons and daughters of man. Our thoughts and prayers go to his immediate family, Nigerians, Africans, Africans in diaspora, and finally the nations of the world.
