One has to take a look at todays Ghana and ask all this defilement issues are some of this girls not to blame for the acts because girls of today seem to go looking for riches and goodies like mobile phones and end up in this situations of which is sad and unforgiven but the source seem to be far from what is reported. One just has to go out at night and will be suprise at the age of young girls out on the streets when they should be reading at home mostly on week ends

The defilement took place when the boy was a minor at 17yrs old. Although, he deserve to be punished, 15yrs in prison is pretty harsh. Ghana is being rape by politicians & none are in prison.

How do the judges come up with such sentences?. Who's going to be responsible for the child with the father imprisoned? I mean how can they justify such a sentence? These judges are just damnn stupid and I hope they read these comments.

The judge would have consider him,even 18yrs and 14yrs it not good but the differece is not too much.even in some countries at 14yrs u can marry.15yrs is too much,who 'll take care of the girl and unborn baby

I normally do not voice out my opinion here but I am compelled to as this doesn’t make any sense. So Judges in Ghana are now comparing sex offenders to murders? Besides, the boy was not even an adult at the time of the offense and even if he was, as previously mentioned, who is going to take care of this unborn baby? Will this fall back on the government to provide food and shelter? I strongly doubt it. How will the baby feel when it hears about the dad’s punishment?

I appreciate that the parents are angry but justice was not served in this case. Rather counsel them and encourage them. They have sinned and I understand the consequence to this but 15 years? This young man’s life is ruined. He will not do any better in jail and once out God help him to live a good life.

I think that it is about time the legal system in Ghana is revised to eliminate bribes as this is disgusting.

And you wonder why Ghanaians abroad are unwilling to return home where the government is corrupt, the legal system is failing and the economy is declining. It is sad to find out that among other reasons and concerns, those are some of them. We have good doctors and skilful businessmen/women abroad but they prefer staying away from a corrupt country where there is no support - the rich look down on the poor and the government doesn’t care. Selah!

Politicians have raped and defiled this nation for many years. Not a single one has been questioned, not to talk of "ofa" and his team printing new money and swallowing a chunk of it. They celebrate 5o years of Ghana's independence by building toilets. They save Ghana's gold timber and bauxite money in hair salons. The are building a so called Job 600 complex since 1960 and cannot complete it. They are employed for talking in parliament ( talking house) and get paid even more than US senators. They ride in these big cars with university girls and people's wives. None of them has ever been questioned. A 17 year old boy is jailed for 15 years for a so called sexual act, defiling a 14 year old girl? Ask the girl more questions.
