well done and congrats Drs.
if Ghanaians are not ready to recognise your roles in health care delivery in Ghana, the outside world does.
I think its high time Ghana accepted that Optometrists are equally capable and competent to help in the delivery of quality eye care services to Ghanaians.
As it stands now, students studying in the two Ghanaian universities, UCC and KNUST, do not know their fate after completion. There is no law regulating the practice of optometry in Ghana, postings and placements are far from certain for them.
The earlier we started doing something now about optometry in Ghana, the better it would be for us all.
Once again congrats to our Drs.

Felicitations our beloved Optonetrists. In deed those of us who handled you in school know your worth and what you are capable of doing. No wonder, "A prophet is respected everywhere except in his hometown and by his own family." (Matt13:57).Why do optometrists have to wait for three years after training before they are called for interview when eye clinics are choked with patients? Is it a deliberate attempt to kill optometry in Ghana? Don't we need the services of optometrists in Ghana? Remember that no one group of eye care professionals can achieve the goals of VISION 2020-THE RIGHT TO SIGHT.God save Ghana!

There is no motivation for him to come home with his personal belongings and pay twice the price he paid for as port duties and if his unable to pay for them have them confiscated by port officials and sold for their own pockets.

Dual citizenship laws in Ghana is self-defeatist. Diasporans should be given equal citizenship rights in order to be able to return home to help. At the moment the law puts LIMITATIONS on many professionals if they decide to relocate in their land of birth to practice. This amounts to STUPIDITY. Look at the state of Isreal, that country was built mainly by the contribution made by diasporans. This self-defeatist NONSENSE in Ghana must stop for the sake of national interest. Grow up Ghana!!!

UNFORTUNATELY, I STAND CORRECTED, I HAVEN'T HEARD OR SEEN A CASE WHERE A PATIENT HAS DIED DUE TO 'NEGLIGENCE' OF ANY OPTOMETRIST IN GHANA.OPTOMETRISTS DO NOT TREAT TERMINAL DISEASES.
IT WILL BE UNFAIR ON YOUR PART TO ALSO SAY, OPTOMETRISTS IN GHANA TAKE BRIBE BEFORE ATTENDING TO THEIR 'PATIENCE'. AS FAR AS I KNOW, DOCTORS OF OPTOMETRY, ARE MEN AND WOMEN OF IMPECCABLE CONDUCTS AND BEHAVIOUR.NONE OF THEM WILL STOOP SO LOW TO TAKE BRIBE. THAT NOT WITHSTANDING, IF YOU HAVE ANY EVIDENCE OF YOUR BRIBERY ALLEGATION, PLEASE REPORT IT TO THE GHANA OPTOMETRIC ASSOCIATION(GOA) OR THE GHANA HEALTH SERVICE FOR IMMEDIATE SANCTIONS TO BE TAKEN AGAINST HIM/HER.
