Things happen rape for example,which requires termination of pregnancy...Unless you want to keep the rapists child in you and constantly remind yourself of your trauma!
Even pastors can't keep their dicks on hold!!!
Abortion should be freely available to who ever requires it!!!

Do Ghana need that, is this man trying to copy from the United Sates where the are fighting aver abortion. In US government pays for and major insurance also pays some. in America things are not as in Ghana so Mr. Sai with your professionalism Ghana need active thinkers. When it comes to abortion high court in north America just ruled only yesterday for morning pills for preventing pregnancy and you can also think about how we can solve the present water and electricity situation.

In as much as Prof. Sai is expressing a plausible opinion, he should not also be blind sided by the morality debate on abortion. The issue is not about abortion in the first instance. The issue especially for Ghana is meaningful and cogent education on reproductive health for Ghanaians, but more so for Ghanaian women.
Being pregnant(and having babies), for most people in Sub-Saharan Africa (and in some other developed countries), is not a "planned" activity. Moreso in Ghana (as l have the country experience). Pregnancy happens because people have sex first, before even thinking of the consequences. Our understanding of sex is more for the physical pleasure, than the consequences or eventual"telos" of the act of sex. More so because sex is sort of a "taboo subject" in families, reproductive health is seldom discussed within family settings, despite the high sexual activity participation at the population level. The consequences is unplanned pregnancies. Due to poor sex education, along with the "cultural" attitudes, unplanned pregnancies end up being glorified, by our women folk, (and the ignorant men too. For the ignorant women it is a sign of "fertility", and the ignorant man "penis power". The end result of lack of reproductive health education is "unplanned baby" sprees, and "unwanted" abortions.
The "unwanted" abortions are either at the hands of illegitimate back yard fraudulent practitioners, or traditional practitioners with unproven "portions". Sometimes it is done by irresponsible medical practitioners in dubious un-monitored clinics. The resultant outcomes is high peri-partum maternal deaths, or future infertility.
The bottom line is better and proper reproductive health education to change and modify our free willy sexual behaviors. Especially Ghanaian women should be better educated on sex life choices, from "no sex please", to "no condom, no casual sex", to being able to even negotiate condom-less sex within the marriage setting. In this light we hopefully can control unwanted pregnancies, and hence needless abortions, with the associated needless maternal deaths or future infertility. Here, Nana Oye Lithur's ministry, and the health ministry have a big role to play.
Think about it folks, most of us in Ghana walking about were unplanned or "lottery" children, we just happened because of our poor level of reproductive education. Look at the UNDP population data. We are classified as one of the "high fertility countries", even by African standards.
So Prof.the issue here is not about morality, more than it is about education, and more relevant reproductive health education; More so for our women to have the power to decide the outcome of the sexual activity. If l can remember, that is where you actually started from in the "early days" with planned parenthood.

Do not put the burden on women. Afterall,"rape" involves overpowering another, albeit emotionally as well. We need comprehensive sex education.
