You must find ways to weed out the thieves at the ports and other government jobs to secure the much needed funds to pay these hard working people, that is how to stop the brain drain, that is how to build a better Ghana.

You don't expect these doctors not to be agitated over their wages when, your MP's are getting massive bonuses, in addition to their paychecks, while the same government crying over lack of funds. A great leader would sacrifice on behalf of its citizens, which means, cutting back on parliamentary expenses, that includes this so-called ex gravita. You can't be a whimp as a leader by trying to please your ministers with their every demands. So what if they get angry over not getting bonuses anymore?

Most haters of the president don't understand elections, governance and politics. I don't blame them but the numerous ignorant media houses (both electronic and print)that have sprang in recent times among the seasoned ones we all know.
They have succeeded in infesting some of the myopic minded citizens of Ghana with their ignorance and unprofessionalism, making the later to believe that noise making on the air waves is what journalism is all about.
History they say is the clock or map used to find human geography and the past is the building block for the future. The lovers of history would say confidently that the haters of the president and the strike loving Doctors are refusing to admit that these salary issues has been a problem from time in memorial and various attempts have been made to arrest the problem.
President Kuffuor and his administration tried for good eight years but failed. The late Mills tried to clean the Kuffuor left mess but God called him to rest.
Now Mahama just elected and under four (4) months the haters and these strike -thirsty Doctors wants him to solve all the problems in 4 months? A problem Kuffour couldn't solve for 8 years and Mills struggled with till his death; though chalked some successes.
When pressed to defend their call for full payment of the arrears at ones, they cite a total incomparable instance; the MPs ex-gratia.
What the doctors and those supporting their strike action should know is that:
1-Nobody is saying they would not be paid; it is just divided into three installment for them because of budgeting concerns.
2- It is not worth killing people whose money helped trained you simply because money due you is by all means be paid but in three parts.
3-Ghana has not in several years recorded any medical breakthrough by these doctors like their counterparts in other countries do independently without depending on government. They take fundraising initiatives and spend time researching yielding productive results, not the spending productive time striking or threatening to go on strikes to advertise their importance.
4- Every Ghanaian given the opportunity and support they had couple with hard work could have become Doctors too; no doubt about that. Because that profession is not limited and one does not have to contest for it through elections where the citizenry decide who should represent them in Parliament and be paid by their tax money.
5- The same irresponsible opposition MPs and some selfish few who are pushing them behind the scene to disturb the peaceful running of Ghana as a country supported fiercely these exorbitant huge ex-gratia amounts.
6- The position of an MP is limited and must be contested for in an election and no amount of support and opportunity given would make two people or everybody an MP of one constituency, but we can have as many Doctors from a constituency without limit provided the support and opportunity is given.
What is also worth noting is that, other professions are equally important and not everybody have the interest to be Doctors and every country need a balanced human resource to function and develop.

If the government was able to find that quantum of money to pay the MPs it has no excuse why it cannot pay the peanuts demanded by GMA and UTAG. I do not see any politics in this. Payment by instalments MUST be out of the equation and I urge GMA, UTAG, etc, to stand on their guard! What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander!
