The reason, quite simple: we are not (at least based upon the sample of utterances from these lawmakers) getting any rightful argument for the payment of the colossal sums of money at the peril of the state coffers! No, not yet. They keep defending the indefensible! May be the few who abhor the payment but have received it anyway are yet to gather enough courage to declare their stand, belatedly though.

Sarps, you see, if and only if our august house is filled with many people who sadly project outright ego-centrism and downplay the serious business of nation building then Ghana has a mountain higher than Afadjato to climb!

Listen to the argument she advances here and you wouldn't need any lessons in logic to conclude that nation building is not the primary objective of most of our MPs! And I shudder to think that not until this bizarre cycle of demand-give-demand on a mere microscopic level with insignificant impact on nation building-e.g attend funerals, social gatherings, pay school fees for a handful children in constituencies etc all in a bid to win election to go back to parliament is broken the nation will see little development! I thought they would rather demonstrate to the rest of us all the wisdom in living within one's means, cutting your coat according to your size. It's a shame!

My advice, Sarps is to close discussion on this! We need to assume failing to change the customary posturing by our MPs beckons a referendum for a constitutional change!

Let's talk about something else and let them clamour the status quo and turn a deaf ear to the cries of the populace! There is time for everything. Ghana deserves better and needs leadership of the calibre the late Baroness Thather of Great Britain offered her people.

The NDC during the 2012 election used the NADMO supplies to bribe their loyal supporters in the three Northern and Volta Regions. Now these regions are going through difficult times because of flooding but NADMO cannot help them with cash or needed materials because NADMO is broke. These People who were given NADMO materials which some of them sold for money have now been flooded out of their homes without any emergency help from the government and who do you blame? Who said that it was the MP's responsibility to use his/her own money to pay the hospital bills of their constituents? Those quack MPs in our country have abbrogated those rights to themselves. In our society, the affluent take it upon themselves to support the poor around them, but they do not come out to claim that their job is more important than teachers or doctors. The MP's responsibility is to seek for equal distribution of the countriy's resources for everybody. So these porous 'honourables' should disist from throwing dust in the air about how difficult their job is. If an MP decides to bribe his/her constituents so that they would vote for him/her next time, then it is that MP's responsibility to find the cash to repay the debt he/she accrues in the process. Otherwise, work within your remit and stop bringing in your own issues when we want to talk about issues that affect our country. I want to challenge these MPs that if they have mountains of debt to pay back, it has nothing to do with Ghanaians! It is their own foolishness and greed that landed them those debts.

I believe the MP has made a true assertion. And that's why even the president has no clue as to how to remove Ghana from 'DEBT AFADJATO' level terrain such as the AFRAM PLAINS.

A teacher who is 58years or 60 years and who earns 800 a month has to build a house that would cost 40 000 cedis minimum.His lump sum payment after service is 10 000 cedis ,this is somebody who has served 30 years.Compare this to somebody who after 4 years service is getting close to 300 000 cedis.Before he started he was given 50 000 as rent advance and was being paid 7200 a month.He was given a loan to buy a car as well,now the 50 000 rent advance can build a house.A portion of 7200cedis salary within 4 years can service almost if not all the cost of your landcruiser and other benefits we cannot mention here.As a wise MP you do what is expected of you but i dont think people approach MP's demanding billions of cedis.Those who throng the offices for money normally ask for between 50 -150 cedis to pay fees ,for hospital etc etc but you Mp's have a nice way of avoiding many of such claims,you are not obliged to satisfy everybody.This Klenam red face should give us a break,we do similar payments with far less earnings.

This is totally disgraceful. After all no citizens forces her/his MP to give money or donate at a funeral if the MP cannot afford it. Why are MPs finding it difficult to live within their means. After all they can relinquish their positions anytime if they find it unbearable. A wise person would do so honourably with respect. Get real, get a proper life. Most MPs can not assess themselves so they don't know their capabilities. They think it is trendy to be an MP. I suppose some go into parliament because they want to use parliament to amass wealth and assume a false status.

First,these MPs try to bribe electorates during polls to get voted to office.Second,the voters feel that after helping the MPs get to parliament,then they don't see why when they need help for school fees they should not approach the MP for the help.Our MPs would not get into debts if they STOP bribery for votes and tell the voters the truth about their intensions of becoming MPs.Elections are about issues in the country and not about how much you can offer voters to vote for you and there will be no one at your house for school fees or hospital bills.

I said i know this woman la,i just cant tell where and when but i remember she came across as a friendly person but a bit shallow in thinking because she talks a lot.I blame we the electorates,we vote such characters into parliament.For al you know more knowledgeable candidates stood with her but she got the nod.I don't know the qualities we Ghanaians look out for.The part that annoys me most is the land cruiser issue,who forced her to buy one?Papa Ankomah a veteran Mp for that matter does not drive a Land Cruiser and i know many MP's who drive saloons but she a latter day apostle goes straight for a land cruiser.What would she buy after 8 years in Parliament.
