Ghanaians should stop this hypocrisy when it comes to the dead. Even in the UK, they are "calling a spade a spade". Was the same case with Atta Mills who became one of the "greatest statesmen ever" in death!

We (Ghanaians), as people, had and have objectives that this lady never appreciated or agreed with in many ways from apartheid to privatization of our national assets, to mention a few. While the great Mandala, Walter Sisulu, Ahmed Kathrada and thousands of people were in prison, her government provided support to the aparthied regime in South Africa and she also provided British speciliasts to the Pol Pot genocidal forces in Cambodia. What did the UK do when the humble Mills died?
When the white South Africans bombed SWAPO refugees in southern Angola in a place called Cassanga in which women and children were killed in 1979 what did she say?
Her legacy as a friend of mine wrote yesterday is:'... legacy which she unfortunately shares with many other crooks and fraudsters masquerading as politicians!'

I understand that diplomacy requires a statement after a prominent leader of a foreign nation dies. But let's be realistic: Thatcher was "successful" as premier only because she acted as a consigliere for the already wealthy and already powerful fighting to maintain their privileges.

The shareholders of the UK Conservative Party gave their everlasting support for her asset stripping of the nation's enterprises for their sole benefit, that is, until her antics grew so wild that they had to drop her cold in 1990.

She was all too happy to see Africa as a whole return to the gold nugget and guinea worm days of the Gold Coast, Apartheid South Africa, and Rhodesia of her childhood. Not to mention, she and her other Alzheimer's afflicted allies wished to inflict Pinochets and Marcoses and Sandanistas and Mobutus on the rest of the planet.

You can't even make a heartfelt statement of condolence to her family, since they were just as inhumane as she was. Her son Sir Mark, and South African mercenaries, ventured into Eq. Guinea to engineer a coup d'etat, as if Africa needed any more coups or wars.

So, yes, give a statement about the audacity of her leadership, since it's required of you. But for the sake of honesty and good character don't make a panegyric where one clearly doesn't warrant.

Margaret Thatcher was a racist and a supporter of the apartheid regime of South Africa and in 1987 described Nelson Mandela as a terrorist.All her so-called economic reforms which are said to have made the British economy robust made millions of the British,especially the miners unemployed,poor and their societies blighted.She sold council houses to their occupants below market prices and did not allow the monies realized to be invested in the building of new ones with the result that London is now faced with a huge deficit in housing stock and workers paying astronomical rents.No wonder her death has brought a section of the British population pouring into the streets to jubilate.In the end she became so unpopular that her own party,the conservatives removed her as their leader and prime minister and replaced her with John Major who went on to become the prime mimister.She was a strong believer in Britain as a colonial power and went to war with Argentina over the Falkland Islands which is 6000 miles from Britain and geographically belongs to Argentina.Thousands if not millions of Britons say they are waiting to dance on her grave.
