THE REMARKS ON GHANA'S AGRICULTURE(''DESPITE HER VAST FERTILE LANDS AND RIVER BODIES'')- GHANA'S AGRICULTURE SECTOR REMAINS DOMINATED BY TRADITIONAL FARMING METHODS.
THIS SOUNDS VERY SHAMEFUL FOR A COUNTRY THAT CONTINUES TO PRODUCE EDUCATED AND TRAINED AGRICULTURAL GRADUATES AND DIPLOMAS FOR THE SECTOR IN GHANA.
WE ARE NOT ACHIEVING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY IN THE COUNTRY NECAUSE OF LACK OF PRACTICAL QUALITY WORKFORCE WITH THE SKILLS AND FOR THEM TO BE EFFICIENT FOOD PRODUCERS, AND EFFECTIVE CIUSTODIANS OF THE VAST FERTILE LANDS THAT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO IDLE IN THE COUNTRY.
A NATIONS ABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO ITS ECONOMY AS WELL AS AS TO MANAGE IT, IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO NEW POLICIES, REFORMS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ITS HUMAN RESOURCES AT THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR.
IT IS TIME FOR US KNOW WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE ARE GOING WITH GHANA'S aGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT.
WITHOUT VISION-PEOPLE PERISH.

Now I understand why there is hardship in the country. This gives an indication that the farmers are getting older and the young ones are not interested in going into farming. This is where our universities/ institutions must come in to do a research to ascertain the myth surrounding this.We have Emeritus, Professors, Doctors, Masters, Bachelors, Extension Officers etc but in their hideouts. I wounder if the universities get grands /funding that amount to ex-gratia even every semester. It also gives me the impression that the people are depending on imports but at looking the value of our currency few product would be brought in for consumption. Then the basic economic principle will set in '' The higher the demand, the higher the price etc''. I have always said that '' Until we become the investors of our resources, poverty hangs on our necks''. This would be an interesting research to carry out.
