Yeh, I hear the roar that it is western propaganda. We have been here before, rhetoric agains the west, associated with Russia, and what did we gain-nothing. Both the west and the have no interest in us and use us to advance their own propaganda - China, Russia or whatever. Travel and see that they are all racist and the Chinese are even worse. Nkrumah was democratic and won all elections conducted even by the colonial masters which were free and fair. After your grand fathers sold Nkrumah, they messed up the economy because they lack vision but only thirsty for power. This is the result we see today. Why did the whole world vote Nkrumah MAN OF THE MILLENNIUM? But for Nkrumah's robust industrialization, Ghana will still be at the stone age era.

Yes, Nkrumah did some stuff but he had money... a whole lot of money in our coffers.The question is, did the splurge he went on with our money replenish our national coffers or lost forever? His so called developmental experiments were superficial at best and not well grounded in any sustainable way.For instance,I'll rather have him spent our money on building a national drainage and sewerage system than give millions of our money to Guinea so Sekou Toure could be a lapdog in his fools errand to unite Africa in his lifetime.I'll rather have him build good and long lasting feeder roads to our farms to enhance the distribution of farm products to where it'll be consumed at very reasonable costs to Ghanaians instead of wasting millions in building Job 600 so as hold hastily OAU conference in Accra although the potential signatories to any primitive union declaratory document were in the least interested in surrendering their respective sovereignties in any such venture.I'll rather have him find ways to reclaim the loot our colonial master illegitimately took from us by "kissing their butt" like the Japanese did to America,than antagonize them to the extent that when he wanted financing for the Akosombo project he did not have to accept what turned out to be one of the worst contract signed between a multinational company and a poor developing nation like Ghana.
The bigger question all well meaning Ghanaians should ask themselves,when it comes to what ails our nation,is what we could have achieved with what was left us when we had our own kith and kin handle our national affairs.
As I mentioned earlier, the template designed by Nkrumah did not favor a sustainable path to a gradual development.It was a haphazard way of doing things with glaring omissions to what needed to be done in an orderly manner to ensure sane and proper radical lifestyle enhancement of our people in the midst of bountiful human and natural resources.
So Bismarck,you are the one to learn your history well without being bemused by the so called " achievements" of Nkrumah that some of us harp on for the sake of some political expediency.
Fortunately enough for his image,those leaders who came after him,though had less to work with, pursued his hopeless socialistic and tyrannical policies to the extent that he stands out in a better light.
There are some of us who feel that the foundations built in the beginning were not strong enough to withstand the test of time.And we are paying for it dearly everyday especially when we fail hopelessly to ascertain the genesis of our national failures.

The questions I keep asking my self now that I have matured in life is that: C

1. Did it not make more sense for Nkrumah to place the house of Ghana on solid ground, before getting others to listen to him ? After all one is more likely to take advice from a successful person.

2. Were the opposition right in some of their suggestion, as to the direction to take in nation building ?

3. Why was there such a rush to unite Africa, and in the process squander a lot of our resources, when in fact most leaders from the newly independent African nations had no interest in it.

We as a people must make an honest assessment of the past, so as to avoid mistakes already made.

There´s no country in the world if you kill innocent people the Government in power will give you a thank you medal. Except Sir Garnet Worseley a previous Governor in Gold Coast when he burnt down Ashanti Kingdom and killed a lot of Ashantis back home in Britain he was promoted to Brigadier and raise in salary. If the visit is over done ....say redcarpeted, lots diplomacy smooching, much attention accorded him, then it sends signals. Of course, the "guys" are in already to sniff for information. Venezuela is an oil rich nation and was on an ascendency until Chavez brought his communist socialist ideas out of a coup d'etat to topple the government. As you might be aware , socialist ideas are about sharing and doing things in common and this brings down a nation. He became a big time critic of the West especially the US and began hanging out with Cuba, Russia, Iran. It is true the communist ideology has outlived its usefulness and currently on the fringe of history. It was broken down in Russia and indeed who ever anticipated that to happen in the Soviet Union? Late Chavez did not get it and acted stupidly in the name of socialism. Chavez would have been cured of his ailment had he visited any of the western world for treatment but resorted to obsolete Cuba and perished in the name of ideology. These are the guys who are so entrenched in their ideologies and hate for the USA. No one is suggesting Ghana should shun other nations, but Ghana has to play safe in this Chess game of international politics. Prezident Mahama will be able to choose his words carefully to address this diplomatic mission and yet come out as neutral. Why are the Chineese trooping to Ghana of late? Building hotels, stadia for free? You think that it is just for the sake of it? There is a diplomatic mission to accomplish by that. They need us, Ghana. Of course, the US and other western world nations need us too.
For as long as the President uses his diplomatic lingua well, don't "oversmmoch", no redcarpet and cautious in his statements, I do think that Ghana will be fine. Of course, we are a sovereign nation and the world needs us now more than ever

The ndc is socialist party and belongs to the the social justice international,more so Ghana is a member of the non aligned block in which Iran is also member. So I don't see anything wrong with our working relation with Iran.After all the US is not only benefiting from a communist generously,but that communist state China is on course to overtake America soon.Again take note that the economic block the The BRICS is the most formidable economic bloc which is also on course to influence world events.The BRICS nations are Brazil,Russia,India,China and South Africa watch out for this alliance.

It would be argued that, THE npp in Ghana is cast in the mould of the Republic party, who believe the private sector to be the engine of growth of any economy.

HOWEVER, THE PEOPLE OF IRAN DEMONSTRATED AGAINST SUCH APPOINTMENT WHILE THE WORLD STOOD BY WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING AND THAT GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY OF DOORS WAS CLOSED.

THEREFORE THERE IS THE NEED FOR SERIOUS CONSIDERATION OF ESTABLISHMENT OF WESTERN SYSTEM OF EDUCATION BOTH FORMAL AND NON-FORMAL SYSTEMS TO HELP EDUCATE AND ALSO CHANGE THE MINDSETS OF THE PEOPLE.

Mahama was so zealous in trying to send Christian Ministers to Jerusalem, I think this is another good opportunity to show his interest in the progress of the Gospel by asking Ahmadinejad to allow Christians to preach the Gospel freely in Iran just as they have been sending missionaries here to preach. He should also request that Christians imprisoned for their faith in JESUS CHRIST should be released in the name of the tolerance for all they preach. And probably our Prez. can go further by requesting that some Ghanaian missionaries be allowed to start a church in Iran. I think this is a better way to demonstrate your love for God. It is quite interesting how after all our so called independence celebrations many Ghanaian response to the Iranian Presidents visit seem to be invoking a sense of fear than partners in the global politics and market. I do not share all the ideas of Iran. For example, I am a christian and do not agree to their kind of Islamic doctrine that refuses to recognize Israel as a country and their luck of care for nuclear non-proliferation, yet I do not think stopping him for visiting Ghana in the interest of Ghana.
Ghana share a long partnership with that country long before this current regime. There are a lot of developmental projects in Ghana with Iranian help. Ghana is a free nation that has and will never help in this unhealthy division of the world. In fact when the USA Presidents visited Ghana in the past, we welcomed them with open arms not because of what they stand for but what we can get out of them and believe me they know we are hypocrites and know their true friends. What Ghanaians should be telling Mahama is to be very bold and tell a spade a spade not alienate other countries because we live in abundance but have decided to be beggars.
I thought President Kufuor once said Ghana is open for business. I know given the chance he will take this statement back before this visit.
Ghana share diplomatic relations and it is not strange he chose to visit.
Even the mighty USA knows when to court even the worse devil in the world. Mahama must be fair but firm when he visits and use these opportunity to advance the interest of Ghana as well as help forge a much more peaceful world.

What is more, was it not this government that planned a group of Pastors to enter Israel for special prayers for the nation? Is our government aware this man Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has vowed publicly to annihilate the nation of Israel from the surface of the earth? May be the intended bilateral ties or whatever raison d'être is for political gains or some economic gains? For a country like Ghana, bilateral relations only means either getting countries in to mine our gold illegally, or chop all our tress down prematurely or in the best of times, do the third and the easiest; that is to take high interest loans that we do not need in the first place. Has governments got any sense of masterminding local business talents and resourcing international opportunities for the country?
How can a country like Ghana ever be proactive economically and be structured vibrantly to head towards progress and self-reliance?

As a nation, we need to develop talents and to do this effectively; we should look carefully at how to stop corruption in our systems. Corruption has been so ingrained in our system by Kuffuor in particular and left to freely manifest by Mills to such an extent that it is now so rife and become the cancer destroying the nation. MPs are all looking for money, money and money with no nationalism, nationhood, patriotism or even the needed intelligence or hard work to show for electing them. The Police will also shoot freely if not given 10p bribes whilst immigration officers do all they can to bring into the country dubious and unwanted personalities giving no damn or shred of concern as to what happens to their nation.

We feel much betrayed by these generations of politicians and are so worried by the pace of Mahama that I fear for the worst. How come governments are never able to control its people? What are the departments of government doing and why can’t government be on top of everything?
It’s strange because nothing is happening in Ghana. There is really no change, just the usual decay and cheating. Do not get me wrong for I am for NDC and have always been for NDC. However, I believe that Mahama will have to be seen to be moving fast and very clearly in control.

I think the current justice system and this petition issue is all nonsensical and could possibly be the cause of Mahatma’s slow pace. This is being a nonsense; Ghana.
