No government, NPP's or NDC's, can sustain such kind of wage structure in the public sector and be able to develop the country's infrastructural development and economic relevance. In the present global economy, wage restraint is being adopted by countries so, Ghana should not be an exception.

The government should not give in to NPP-leg unions pressure and minority public opinion on the wages front. It's all a ploy! If the government ignores the IMF warning and the eminent economists' advice, it will regret it. For, if the NPP, for some reason, comes to power its leaders will be first to agree with the IMF and the economists and supress wages with the help of the unions and their leaders - making the NDC kicks itself!

The Single Spine was modeled after the U.S. Federal gov't pay system. This is not a bad system. The problem we face in Ghana is that there were inadequate planning and education prior to implementation of the Single Spine System. In the U.S fed pay system you can have doctors who earn less than office administrators. Education, years of experience, and the type of position determine the pay grade. A gov't doctor in the U.S who wants to earn more than the office administrator will usually quit their position and work in the private sector where there is no such pay structure.

why would you work as military doctor when you can earn 100,000$ per year as private doctor. Few people do that. Even unions require most pay grades close to same..where i work. all people im my grade make same money,doesn't ...

Even unions require most pay grades close to same..where i work. all people im my grade make same money,doesn't matter how long they work for company..Only those just starting may make 1/2 $(dollar) less for 6 month...Doctors and Lawyers are the richest men in America....Ignore the imf the want to destroy countrys..Look at Egypt they are not gonna take an IMF loan since they can get money from Libya with no interest the Islamic way..They even want to cause problems in usa telling gov to raise fuel tax, when people can barely survive now on expensive petro

See NDC-IMF! They are are giving incompetent NDC grounds to justify their failure to Ghanians. How can IMF put blame on the single spine salary implementation? NDC just can't administer this nation, that's all.

This is unfortunate. Can the Employer pay salary to employees for payment sake? Let put politics aside and discuss the employee performance and experience issues related to workers in the public sector....

Thios single spine is idea was started by the NPP. If the NDC gov had discontinued it we all know what people would have said. We have to learn from this idea of continuing what your predecessor started.
