They all premised their act on "saving" a nation, staging a revolution of a sort but the end has never justified the means!
  
  Not one at least on the soil of Africa. Quite apart from that, coup is a display of brute anger, ego centrism, false hope of "deliverance" of a nation in turmoil. Untold I mean indescribable and unbearable hardship and a people petrified into inaction and cowed into complete submission and underdevelopment are the summary legacy! The nation is left off worse than before!
  
  In this era of human development and period in which nations strive to better the lives of their people challenges are bound to come, governments are human-institutions and so are prone to making mistakes and in some cases grievous errors of judgement are made. But through them all the solution will never be by coup and can never be it. Anyone doubting that should peruse political history of sub-Sahara Africa and French history. History is now replete with the evidence thereof.
  Like a child growing they fall, get hurt along the way but keep going and get well in the end as they are made to understand/accept its part of a learning process and they will mature one day! Coups curtail this salient process. No wonder nations that have been choked with coups have struggling economies. Ghana has come of age and the nation MUST never be allowed to take a nosedive by any drop of that dehumanizing, brutal and disorderly route of addressing national problems no matter how hopeless it may seems. We will get out of it in dignified and humanizing way.
  
  That's we continue to jaw-jaw albeit disagreements garnishing the parcel of suggestions from different angles. But any group of people determined to take their own destiny in their hands definitely win the day.
  
  We will get there! How gratifying would it be if the retired Army officer's conviction dawned on our great men and women who are there to defend the nation in time of trouble. Not to offend us!

Soldiers ARE NOT stupid for any fool to think that the moment they start to say coup, coup, coup, then the soldiers would run for their guns and stage a coup. They are wise and they believe in democratic principles and processes. Oh what a shame that those who claim they believe in democracy are now clamouring for a coup so that they can come into power through the back door. Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  The Ali Baba of Ghana coup makers (aka JJ Avaklasu Rawlings) had gained from coup-making than anybody else. HE admitted that he was poor and credited yoke-gari and even stole seats from air-force planes so he took a gun and foisted himself on us. Yet at the end of it all he was able to pay for foreign education for his children, bought houses in Europe afford medical care in Europe where he even changed his name to Paul Gyamfi - an Ashanti name.
