We send money to our FAMILIES and for SPECIFIC PURPOSES...eg. to pay School fees, buy 50 bags of Cement for the mansion etc. So, of course the remittance will be MORE EFFECTIVE!
There's NO CONSULTANCY FEE from the "experts" from the WB/IMF to be DEDUCTED FROM THE LOANS....

The aid is mostly squandered by the politicians and the powers that be. What this tells me is the aid should be stopped and we will figure out how to fend for ourselves...

Now I want Dr Bodomo to also tell the world what we get in return. It's about time we get some respect here! Our sweat should count!

Sir you however failed to address why companies like Western Union and MoneyGram only allow remittances in places like Ghana? Such restrictions keep African locals crippled from doing continent-wide business between each other. All of which would reduce locals needs for diaspora funds...usually monthly. As an african american male, I send over $1,000 a month to Africa to help African families and have done so for over a decade. Africa-born living in the diaspora are not the only ones sending funds regularly to help Africans back home.
Companies like PayPay, out of the US, also have restrictions on their efforts inside of Africa. All of which cripples Africans from doing 'affiliate marketing' with US companies that payout weekly via PayPal online.
So, i am awaiting a part 2 of your article?
Thank you,
