North Korea is not the best example to follow considering most of their people are starving amidst all the international political gymnastics with a possible worrying nuclear war prospect.

You are just another one of those many unliberated African slaves whose minds have been insidiously distorted to hate anything that does not augur well for the interest of your slave masters.

If, as you say, North Korea is not a good example to follow because most of their people are starving, then what business does the 80% of the rest of the world got to do with practicing the western capitalist system that has only ensured that not only are we collectively starving but we have become so progressively poor that a vast majority of our people cannot even afford to have running potable water or common toilets in their homes, they cannot afford hospital fees, they cannot afford to pay for the human right of education and good shelter and they cannot afford to pay for common basic utilities such as clean water, electricty, telephones, decent clothes, food etc etc.

This sad state of affairs has been going on in South American countries who have been independent for over two hundred years - and they are just next door to the almighty capitalist USA. Isnt it strange that the over-abundant wealth of the US has not positively impacted on or spilled over to the long-suffering people of South America in anyway? If this is the case, what chance has Africa got when their eyes are now on our mineral resources as the last option that can save them from total collapse.

You are obviously one of those ignoramuses who thinks that communism or socialism prescribes poverty so when you see a wealthy socialist or communist society like China or North Korea, then you in your royal ignorance assume that they have adopted aspects of capitalism to reach that point. Poor guy.

Cuba, a small country that has adopted the communist/socialist system has in spite of an illegal economic blockade by the US for over 50 years, runs the most efficient health system in the world by the standards of the WHO. It exports officially and unofficially, thousands of various categories of health personnel including medical doctors to many countries around the world - including the US - for almost free. Something that the US after all the slave labour and purloined mineral resources from Africa will definitely not do for Africa.

North Korea, within less than 50 years as a communist state, has become so technologically advanced that they can manufacture long-range missiles and they have perfected nuclear technology for their own purposes - as have other countries.

China, within less than 60 years as a communist state, has become so economically advanced that even the USA, the so-called most advanced capitalist state is today after cheating mankind to employ evil and inhuman means such as slavery and colonial dictatorship to gain advantage over all others, is today virtually begging China to slow down on its overwhelming trade policies which are causing untold difficulties for the collapsing American economy.

Today, without colonizing other people, without enslaving other people and without seeking to overthrow nationalist leaders of other countries so that they can then resort to cheat those countries thru weak leadership, China, as a communist country, has become so succesful that America has succumbed to owing China the largest ever country to country debt in world history.

So my friend, wake up and make your own conclusions about which ideology is better for you as a Black African - the victim of many years of imperialist colonial theft, graft and exploitation of our resources. A fact which has compelled many of our brothers and sisters to escape the resultant socio-economic poverty and seek solace in the land that was stolen by the spilling of immeasurable amounts of the blood of its original owners, the American Indian.

May sound weird, but where loser gets nothing, sabotage and fraud seems justifiable. In a life and death situation, 'killing', even in this case seems justifiable; after all, humans have a survival instinct which could take precedence over all situations.

Justice Crabbe has hit the nail right on the head. The typical US-style divisive, party-posturing, uncompromising approach has not worked for them and will not work for anyone. Ours in which people see leadership, participation, honour and appointments only in party eyes is both flawed and backward.

What we need is to encourage talent and enterprise across the board and from all sectors of society, region, religion, creed etc. without prejudice and with one thing only in mind - the development of the country and ALL its peoples. I simply cannot understand why people find this simple concept so difficult. Education is not necessarily the reason for this as increasingly, utterances and actions of some of the 'most educated' people in our midst and their mentality leaves you speechless.

Although as an Nkrumahist I admire and respect the work of the Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, I still lament and condemn the "one-party system" that arose out of his stewardship and blame our "winner takes-it-all" mentality on those very beginnings.

It has not been helped by the opportunism that is the state of our politics today where people feel if they 'fought for their party' to win power, then they must 'reap the benefits' by being the only ones to run the country or its institutions. I also equally condemn the attitude of oppostion parties where the attitude is "to make things difficult to govern" just because they wish and want the government of the day to FAIL, just so they can "WIN" by showing the public that those in power are 'corrupt, incompetent' etc.

It is not yet 6 months since the new government took over and it is appalling (but not surprising or shocking) the level of condemnation and the verdict that some in the opposition have already put out. We 'sail' or 'sink' together as a nation, believe it or not and if we wish the 'ship of state' to remain 'afloat' and 'reach its destination' of good governance, democracy and economic development, then surely we cannot, and must not dismiss Justice Crabbe's admonition? After all, a word to the wise "is (you guessed it) is the north (enough)".

The bane of our party politics in Africa is well documented. Any student of Political Science in Africa is aware of the danger posed by 'the winner takes all' when practised in Africa. Our constitution does not oppose appointment of non-party members, yet the opposition is seen as a enemy by the winner of an election.
We have come under military dictatorships yet, national tensions as we see now were not rampant. The only time we experienced a hiccup of division was the period and immediate period after Acheampong proposal of Union Government.
The third Republican constitution needs to be visited, and perhaps a referendum to change the present system to Proportional Representation. It is sad, that even educated people once, in power forget, that, the opposition members form part of the nation, and threat non-party members as prisoners of war.
Every government appointment has become politicized, no wonder we have team B members as Ministers. Political affiliation, is now more important than patriotism.

Those Ghanians following either the NPP or NDC parties are fools. Both parties are taking Ghanians for a ride.

The current status qua of politics does not help the development and growth of the country ,it is polarised between NDC and NDC with each party undermining one another coupled with a lot of corruptions by politicians to the disadvantage of developement and growth of the nation.What we need is national union government which we voted against during General Acheampong regime ,the idea was ok except Acheampong wanted to still remain as president.With the union government stakeholders including chiefs and elders are nominated through a process from all the regions to represent their people in the parliament house to speak on their behave and from these people the President ,vice and ministers are chosen to govern the nation ,with this there will be no corruption such as wayome ,ghana at fifty celebration,election results being disputed in courts and many more problems in ghana ,this form of government will seek to address basic economic and social needs of ghanaians instead of the current practice of politicians seeking interest of their parties before the country developments.

What an intelligent presentation? This culture of winner takes all has really done more harm than good for Ghana. We need a holistic approach in this direction. My humble suggestion to this paper is that we should start from the local level elections, all DCEs and Assemblymen and women must be openly elected by the community/people and not been appointed by the President as we are experiencing today. In this case, the total number of the metropolitan , municipal and district assemblies will be shared among all the political parties just as is done here in the US. We have 50 States but not all the governors or county executives belong to one political party. We have republicans and democrats leading some of these states. This is a major form of power sharing because the governors or county executives will come from different political parties. Even here, our state court judges, attorneys, police chiefs, fire chiefs, school council members, etc., are all elected by the people. They are on the ballot paper and the people choose who they want to be their State attorney, police commissioner, etc. They work for the people and not for a particular president of party.

Our constitution has to be amended to reflect our present day situation.

Very true! The MPs increased their salaries while gov't said, & still says, there's no money to pay teachers, nurses, doctors, etc., etc. They're paying the ex-gratiae when some public servants haven't been paid for months!! ...

Justice V.C.R.C. CRABBE - A great Ghanaian name, before, now and for ever.

I have been a silent admirer of the revered Retired Supreme Court Judge since the late sixties, when he was active in the judiciary and was at a time, the Electoral Commissioner. At that time I thought he was old but I now I realize he was not old then.

Thank God we have such a person, so blessed with strength in body and in mind. All his analysis were said with precision. Those I remember, I do attest and wanted more. His Quotations were accurate, most appropriate and fitting. May God bless him to continue his good work for Ghana with long life and good health.

Please can someone seek his permission to publish his speech and possibly his biography as well?
