  As for those arguing that 'cos the apparent front man was said not to be influential, it doesn't mean that those he was being a front for were not. The Big Men behind bribery and corruption cases rarely show their own hands and faces. Frontmen act for them. Those were the days of Kwadwo Poku Mahala aka arrow head, then Asamoah Gyan was also brought in. These Gargo and co were out of form then. I remember we sent a team to the cup of nations that couldn't do hweee and the GFA gave a reason that they wanted to see the number of other players they may discover to join the team to Germany 2006. Gargo paaaaaa, I know he'll say tomorrow he never said that.

I liked him when he was active...he was the youngest ( i think at 17) in the Black Stars team at the Senegal '92 Cup of nations among more experienced players like Abedi Pele, Anthony Yeboah, Prince Opoku, Tony Baffoe, Kwasi Appiah and others..the other youngest player, at same age, was Isaac Asare...but without naming names in this bombshell that he has released, the story is incomplete...it becomes non-issue...as a journalist myself and a former editor, i would not publish such story...the best i would do as an editor is to withhold the names, otherwise it is not a news story...and so Mohammed Gargo should name names or shut up...and also, ghanaweb editors must do better and stop the yellow journalism-sensationalism

  all along kuffour was not the favourite of doya. when we went to CHAN 2006 with a stephen appiah out of sort blackstars,kuffour put up a plucky performance against nigeria such that the handlers reconsidered bringing on some older players. that was why eric addo, richard kingson, otto addo, michael essien, really got to unto the team and stabilised it. so it's possible somebody wanting to cash in decided to pull a fast one on gago, johnson, & arhinful who were by then not really in the class of kuffour. i must also say that if you look critically at that second goal scored by the italians in germany 2006, it was largely the fault of sule muntari and after that match maxwell konudu came out clearly to state that immediately after the match.

  it was obvious that by CHAN 2000, the 3 players have put on massive weight such that gago and arhinful did not last beyond the first match. no doubt gago was a terrific footballer who could not fully contribute his fullest quota to the blackstars due to injury or sometimes being fielded at the right half back or inside right positions instead of his favourite left half back position.

  I am surprise that it has taken almost over 7 years for Gargo to come out and make this allegation. This allegation is very serious and instead of insulting and abusing him, I think there is the need for the police to investigate this allegation and where necessary encourage him to name the culprit. For now he is not under any bond to name the culprit but Mr. Gargo must know that as a respected former football he has a responsibility to help weed out any form of corruption and bribery from our national football.
