I believe that if we had continued with the relationship we had after independence we would have benefitted immensely from the scientific, technological and other knowledge and skills from Israel.

We have to particularly tap their knowledge and experience in the agricultural sector. Thie will enable us have food sufficiency and security. We have no excuse why we cannot be a food basket given the abundant land and water resources we have. Take a drive along the Accra to Aflao road and you will appreciate what I am talking about. With Isaeli support and assitance we should be able to transform the agricultural practices and production there.

She also should have addressed her crass comments about Ghana's relations with Iran, a fellow non-aligned country who happen to be a loggerehads ( along with other Arab States) with Israel.

Ours is a functioning, independent democracy and from its inceptionunder Nkrumah, we made it clear we would associacte with whomsoever we pleased and Ghana played significant roles in a number of conflicts including maintaining the peace between Israel and its Arab neighbours, the Cuban crisis and the Vietnam war during which negotation Nkrumah was booted out.

It is also rather pompous of the ambassador to suggest that Israel somehow is here to help Ghana 'fix our economic and development problems'.

I wholly disagree with that condescending posture and the ambassador should be advised that Ghana seeks only equal partners who will respect us for who we are and respect our value systems. They must also learn to desist from interfering in our internal and foreign policy affairs if they want to continue enjoying our undoubted and genuine friendship and partnership.

The last I checked, the US president and the current Israeli leadership were not in the best of personal friendly terms despite their joint opposition to the curren Iranian leadership. We are a free nation and don't need lectures from anyone on matters of our own interest, including our development.
