You will fly in 200 doctors, for example; house them; provide them with transport, pay them or the cuban government. It does not make any economic sense.

Just pay up. After all you found the money to pay exgratia payments and backdated it for ministers who were voted out of office for their inability to deliver promises as opposed to doctors who are delivering critical services everyday.

These thieves get into the political scenes just to loot the citizenry and transfer big money abroad.They also give our resources to foreigners for free whiles they eat junk food to put on fat bellied thinking they are ''living good''. You guys need to be a little bit sensitive and empathise with dying patients. The most annoying part of this is that the majority of these doctors hardly do research and study once they qualify. The only thing known to them is the traditional approach of treatment. What is wrong with you? Then they will start writing. When you are done, the next thing is, here is a prescription for you, go to the pharmacy, get the drugs, take it whatever times a day and come and see me if you don't see any sign of improvement within a week or two. In some cases you will be ask to go and see them at their private clinic or hospital. No laboratory test, no scan, neither will they look at the medical history of the patient this is because perhaps the patient has been asked to purchase a new hospital card. Even your own medical records you’ve been ask to buy it. What a wonderful world! Yet these are the very people who call themselves "good Christians" with good moral values. That is to say they should refuse to give care to the parimenterians and the MPs even in the private hospitals. The MP and the parlimentarians are a whole banch of lazy cows who are unproductive to the country compared to the physicians. Some of them may not even open their mouth for the entire parimentarian carrierhood in the parliment even to support a motion. All they do is get your monthly salary and sit on your butt. Refusing to take care of the MPs and the parimentarians will force them to discuss the physicians concerns.

As much as we respect the noble profession of Doctors and appreciate their contribution to maintenance of healthy human resource for the nation’s development, it gets to a point where their attitude begin to be a nuisance just as it has now gotten to the bream.
They are now behaving like an opposition political party. It is only in Ghana that they can boast with their certificates not valued anywhere; even in Togo. Not to talk about the USA, Europe, Asia, UAA,etc. These Doctors have to re-train for at least 4 years in US (Residency)and further 2 or 3 years to specialize(fellowship); some even fail woefully!
When Doctors who benefited from tax payers’ money descend so low in thought, ethics and professionalism to use late payment of arrears (not even salaries) time-line disagreement to punish a core group of people whose money helped train them (Tax payers), their commitment to the respected profession need be questioned. What on earth do they expect, a job well done praise? Only their few remote controllers, most of whom are ignorant, heartless and selfish like those striking Doctors would shower them with praise; one I’ll describe as filthy praise.
Choosing immediate arrears payment in full over precious lives? Unbelievable! Now they are withdrawing emergency services even before the deadline they agreed on for their problems to be solved.The public now know they would be paid at all cost in 3 installments. They are at the verge of losing their status and sympathy in the eyes of the public. Haven taken the pain to look into the services they render the citizenry, I see no extraordinary service that merit extra ordinary praise. In the event they get close to providing extraordinary service, they woefully fail. An example among many that have been swept under the carpet without law suit is the recent conjoined twin’s incident. Their constant referral of patients abroad for treatment or home to slowly die attests to the above fact. These normally happens when their expertise are needed the most.
What most of them know how to treat are the few diseases which the senior nurses and many of the nursing staffs and health officers could easily handle successfully without any panic. Malaria, typhoid and some communicable diseases are some examples.
Their absence therefore would not make Ghana collapse. What even make their strike action a no-brainer is the fact that most health facilities readily available to most communities are privately or missionary owned. My advice to them is to stop vigorously advertising their ignorance, selfishness, in-humane behaviors and partisan political stupidity.
While their counterparts in various parts of the world are using their medical professional associations to brainstorm how to independently as a body work hard to enrich their pensions with pragmatic modern financial ideas without depending on Government, as well as researching feverishly to save lives they (GMA) on the other hand are feverishly dancing to partisan political tunes and rhythms to kill lives.

The name Kofi Annan carries a lot of weight. However, since the former UN Secretary General retired he has totally refused to comment on any issue relating to his mother-land Ghana. Some have wondered if he considered himself above the ordinary issues of the land, or if he indeed cared for the suffering and poor living conditions he finds in Ghana, while others wondered if he thinks it will be political for him to comment about human suffering and social injustice and that war was the only thing he cares about. It is refreshing indeed to see the global diplomat use his endowed skills and acquired name to do something for his country for a change. Over 100,000 are reported to die annually from malaria alone and after all, isn't death by preventable diseases the same as in war? Wars are not self-generating. Wars come from the social and economic injustice, as well as human greed that are allowed to breed for too long to suppress others and their human rights. We hope to hear more from the eminent diplomat and hope he will talk more about the poor living conditions with the disease-breeding open sewage and unsightly unhealthy environment and poorly build accident prone roads and highways he sees around in Ghana ignored by politicians. Leadership should be concerned about such matters and some of us expect more from Kofi Annan.
