Npp and NDC had 2 agents at every polling station, and supporters of both parties were present throughout the voting and counting. The voting and counting were done in public view, with ballot papers held up for public scrutiny.

The moot question is why did the NPP agents sign the electoral sheets if they had complaints about any aspect of the electoral process? They had the right to challenge anything untoward, ask for recounts and refuse to sign the sheets and raise complaints with the EC. The parties were represented at every stage of the electoral process right up to the 'strong room' where the final results were collated.

The agents could have refused to sign at every stage. Appending their signatures meant they agreed to the results as indicated on the electoral sheets.

The NPP was also given the opportunity to provide evidence of electoral malpractice while the EC delayed the release of the final results. The party failed to produce any tangible evidence, so the EC went ahead to announce the results, explaining that the NPP had the option of contesting the results in court.

How can the NPP now turn round and accuse the EC of fraud and conniving with the President to steal the election?

Let the petitioners know that the Supreme Court judges shall rule in favour of the EC & NDC on their allegation of over voting. The judges reason for this ruling shall be as follows:" Though the No. of votes counted at a polling station as recorded on the pink sheets exceeds the No. of registered voters on the voters register, Afari Djan legally declared John Mahama as president, because the presiding officers did not mean what they wrote on the pink sheets, but those mistakes were due to clerical errors".
This ruling shall then become the constitutional interpretation for “ over voting” as recorded by an election official on a pink sheet for all future elections. So people can vote in excess of the No. of registered voters, but the results shall be declared as valid.
