Unfortunately, such is the rent situation in Ghana today. I think this is where the government must come in and do something; not mere words. NDC is the only social democratic party in Ghana. In short, NDC is a people-centred party and must be the only party that can solve this "crazy" rent problem in the larger cities in Ghana.

I do not like to ask for more than 6 month advance as per rent control guidelines, however that is why we are seeing all this high costs.

The government needs to build AFFORDABLE housing rather than leaving it to the private landlords to house people.

We said there is a free market and goods and services are to comply with the dictates of the market. Thus the issue of rent is what has been negotiated between the house owner and the renter.

In this situation, state institutions have to adopt stategies to cushion the poor and the vulnerable in the society.Public structures are breaking down without the necessary attention given to the vulnerable in society. Our governments and their institutions are no more caring for the poor and the vulnerable. Individuals as well as the private sector will always take advantage of prevailing conditions anytime in the country to maximize their returns.
Government through its institutions should begin to do something about the situation.

Everybody complains about over crowding in Accra and yet nobody ever thinks or does anything of making other parts of the country attractive for people to live there.
It's very ironic that Ghanaians like to talk and complain about problems in the country but nobody seems to realize that Ghana is suffering from lack of common sense and foresight from our leaders and authorities.
This everything must and should be done in Accra because it's the capital has to change for the country to have a chance of developing.
