Whether the Cubans speak Spanish or not, we cannot let people be dying because our doctors want payment of difference between salary conversions and arrears. At least, they are still receiving their salaries every month so why can't they give the government time to settle their arrears? Should somebody lose their live because of salary arrears? I will feel for these doctors if they are not being paid their salaries. However, I will not support them for killing people by withdrawing their services for the sake of arrears.

Government and Drs must sit down and find amical solution to this problem. As a medical officer abroad, i can say language is extremely important in health care delivery as you need excellent commmunication between doc & patient to write a good history and get the right diagnosis which leads to the right treatment.Cuban docs can't communicate well with patients,especially in the rural areas where you need to communicate using the local dilect most of the time. Also the cost of flying in cuban docs,accomodation and to some extent, even hiring interpreters beat my imagination. It is not logic and will rather compound the already brain drain problem the country is facing.No country has ever sacked all their own docs nad imported docs from abroad to replace them. It's simply wrong and a great mistake. Please docs back to work and govt try and find amicable solution to this problem. The government must be careful not to put an end to the great and good services our doctors do back home despite lack of adequate equipment,infrastructure etc., Pay back their arears.

This is why Jerry Rawlings (aka Paul Gyamfi), with all his love for the revolutionary Castro and Cuba, still goes to Cromwell Hospital. With all their pretences, sending doctors to Africa is one way Cuba makes foreign money. The idiotic African governments pay the Cuban government, and the Cubans, in turn, pay their doctors the revolutionary equivalent of $100 a month. What it means is the government cannot commit itself to anything and all they are saying is vain promises. I stand to reason with the doctors, because this government cannot make good any promises it has previously made. The doctors saw through the gimmicks of this government that either they are unwilling to grant their request or taking them for a ride.Can someone answer this question? If the government has no money to pay the doctors, what the hell is the money coming from to pay the cuban doctors. My advice to the government is DRESS THEM AND KEEP THEM (THE GHANAIAN DOCTORS)for these cubans will not be in Ghana forever. It is the Ghanaain doctors who can understand the patients better, if the patients have difficulty in expressing themselves. the good people of this country should arise and protest vehemently against this senseless and callous decision, if not it will come back and hurt all of us. It is very sad to notice that many Ghanaians at least those who are commenting on events using internet do not know anything about what is going on in this world. Is the Government bringing in the Cubans to kill Ghanaians or to save their life? Does a Doctor need to speak a local dialect before he treats someone? Can you Ghanaians/Africans pay back the assistance the Cubans gave you in the pass to enable you to become free from the colonization? The Cubans had helped the congolese against the western invasion of Congo and Che Guevara was there. How many did you pay them? The Cubans died for Angola to become independent. How much did you pay them? They helped SWAP, FRELIMO and other african liberation movements. How much did you pay them?

Cubans are here in Ghana and everywhere in Africa providing medical assistance to our poor people. How much do you pay them?

If the President Mahama was to bring in the british, french, american Doctors to give medical care, will you, former slaves and colonized people have the same reaction?

Africa will never develop if the Africans do not know their history and their friends and enemies.

President Atta mills from NDC came to save you and he performed well. You insulted him everytime and just started crying when he has gone forever. What good do you want for your country at the end of the day?

Yes, I like your concern. I believe the Gvt will not joke with the Ghanaians' life. Even Americans, the worst enemies of Cubans know that Cubans are very very competent in some fields including the medical.

They abandon these poor folks who's sweat paid for their training to die not because they are not paid but because of a delay in payment of allowance.

How wicked can they be?? Their so-called president even bost on radio that even though he has not been working, he has received his salary and spent it. If you were a fee paying student whilst at the medical school, then you can have a case, otherwise these doctors are greedy bastards.

I know some of them will loose their family members because of this. Dont think anybody is cursing you but what goes around will surely come around.

God have mercy on us all and may God bless Ghana.

It will take the government a fortune to import foreign doctors to meet the medical needs of the 20 plus million Ghanaians. And by the way how many pharmacist do we have in 37 that will be enough to support Korle-Bu let alone the rest of the country. What a shame, some kind of politicians in Ghana. Will take us another 1000 years to develop if this is the mentality of our politicians. There are more doctors in one hospital in a city in the US than there are in Ghana, and the answer to a strike is nothing more than import foreigners- good luck, by the time you are done those in Ghana would be lost to US, UK and Canada!

The doctors should know government is not there for them alone. The government is also there for the ordinary people who have to bear the brunt of their strike action. As the parties make attempt to address the issues at stake, ordinary people should not suffer. I hope that is the steps being taken by government and the people of Ghana should support it. The main issue of the doctors at the beggining was salary and allownces which have been settled.So the doctors should have considered the plight of ordinary people in the society at least, to return to work.
