  In theory, it is good that Ghana should be considering a universal basic income grant for the total elderly population. The big question is how can the Govt fund this when the majority of Ghanaians do not pay any income tax because they operate in the huge informal sector which so far escapes the tax net. In order words the Govt does not even recieve adequate income tax revenue.
  The second problem is longevity. People all over the world including emerging countries are living longer, thus any "universal state pension" provision is now a huge major challenge ie Govts are now overburdened with huge extra pension costs due to people living longer.

Does SSNIT see what we see in Ghana. The weak in our society are subjected to redicule and humiliation. How do we overcome this? It is the challenge of our time....let's face it.
