Why are Ghanaians so stupid? If no one patronizes this Okada business, it wil die a natural death. I would wake up early and do what my ancestors did before me, walk miles which is healthy and safer than take Okada. What happens when it rains? How can you entrust your lives, without helmet, into the hands of these profiteers.
It is time Ghanaians learn to use bicycles and have their destiny in their hands than hand them to others, plus it is cheaper and convenient. Think people.

To Mrs Mary Obiri-Yeboah, I say thank you for your encouraging efforts to really enforce the law outlawing the use of Motorcycles - Okada, on Ghanaian roads.
The fact is we live in the 21st Century, so the Mahama Administration should not have problems to actually enforcing the Legislative Instrument 2810 which clearly prohibit the uses of motorcycles for commercial transportation in Ghana. This law must be ruthlessly be implemented by both Government and the Security Authorities in the country.
The Police Force must be given an uninterrupted power to arrest and immediately prosecute all recalcitrant people or groups in a Fast Track Court without any unnecessary delay to serve as deterrent to others. This trade is much more headache with its attendant social problems kidnapping, stealing, rape, deaths through accidents and other more mundane social ills.
The fact that such system is going on in other African countries is not be issue for consideration at all by Governemnt. Those countries are completely different from Ghana. Ghana must in all circumstances maintain its dignity and civility among the progressive nations of the world. Where in the Developed Countries will one see such a mode of transport. In the Developed Countries one is required by law to put on or ware HELMETS without which one faces a fine or imprisonment. Somehow, Ghana does not even have such a law for riders of both bicycles and motorbike riders. If then how is the country going to cope by not enforcing the exiting the Legislation Instrument 2810 or deregulate this all important law.
The NRSC must stand very firm and I am thus urging Messrs Mr Noble John Appiah, the Executive Director and Mrs Mary Obiri-Yeboah and colleagues on the Board of NRSC to resist all attempts by those who does not want the progress and advancement of Ghana to move forward. Please, Ghana must remain among the developing countries and not go backward to join the last lane of countries who want to remain so.
Lastly, the Transport Ministry must in all circumstances fully back the NRSC to create a safer environment in Ghana. Safer place to do business is where Foreign Investors or Businessmen want to go to, knowing very they are entering into a secured environment with clean means of transportation assured.
Okada operations will discourage serious investors into Ghana. This is seen as an uncivilized means of transport by the Developed World.

Can somebody give me one single example of a country, particularly in Africa that has legalized Okada business which has not regretted it? Mention Nigeria, Benin, Sierra Leone, Togo, Tanzania etc. All these countries have regretted deeply as it has been a huge mistake and disaster. Go to Sierra Leone which accepted it a couple of years ago and you would find the situation very unbearable, disturbing and a nightmare. It must also be noted that the Okada is one of the most common and easy medium used to perpetuate terrorism. Fortunately, God has saved Ghana from this disaster and the appropriate law has been passed. All that is required is its enforcement. Is it only Okada business that can address the unemployment problem of Ghana? We should be extremely careful not to legalize it otherwise the country be like hell.

I live in Cotonou, the Republic of Benin. The motorcycle taxi business is a big mess over here. Before anyone regulates this business, they should come here and spend just one week. I see terrible accidents on the road daily because of the way the daredevil people ride the okadas. Ghana should say NO it the okada business. It affects the education of the youth, they drop out of school and training programs to make a paltry daily earning, sacrificing their future. Ghana deserves better.

Our noble gentle country, Ghana will never be extension of lawless Okada operatives like it's happening in neigbouring Togo, Bulkina, Benin and Nigeria. We should never-never allow the importation of such despicable culture in our already chaotic security system by any hoodlum and foreigners trooping into our country without respect to our laws.
Not even when there is evident prove that most of the notoriously heartless armed criminals take the advantage of our peaceful and hospitable society uses motor bikes to cause horrific robberies and attack innocent citizens going about their peaceful work.
May be, the government should encourage the individual to learn to use motorbikes in view of uncontrolled traffic but not as public commercial transport. NO!!!
