Much as it is very clear that this Mayor as well as all of the other Mayors of Accra in recent memory were useless, I think that the little boys at JOY fm behaved like a bunch of over-excited primary school kids engaged in a gang-bang in the interview with the Mayor.

They were all virtually shouting questions at the same time at the Mayor to the extent that it was difficult to make any sense about what was going on at the studio. Even when the Mayor attempted to answer some of the questions, another one would rudely interject to distract him to another issue.

In the effort to confuse and then to ridicule the Mayor, the image of JOY fm was rather badly mauled and reduced to a third rate station.

Most of the questions asked by the gang-bang hosts were of the same purely emotional caliber as that which illiterate truck-pushers on the streets of Accra have been asking. No studied questions nor scientifically evaluated analyses were presented to the Mayor for discussion.

In the end the Mayor got fed up with the little boys and walked off the set. He did not leave the studios as erroneously indicated in your report. He stormed off in disgust and I dont blame him.

Many listeners called in to blast, in no uncertain terms, the conduct of the ill-mannered little boys who were posing as hosts of the program.

Accra has extremely serious problems and so long as our equally useless political Parties appoint people who have no clue to solving the myriad of problems bedeviling Accra, as Mayors, the challenges will increase and fester.

We must however admit that in spite of all his irritating shortcomings, the current Mayor of Accra is more proactive and streets ahead of previous nightmare Mayors such as Adjiri Blankson, Amarteifio, E.T. Mensah and so on and so forth.

Teacher Rapes American Volunteer

Date: 07-May-2013

A SCIENCE teacher at Brekumanso, a farming community near Asamankese in the West Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region, is in the grip of the Asamankese Police for raping a 22-year-old American volunteer, who is a colleague at the Brekumanso L/A Junior High School on April fool’s day.

Frank Akamah, 26, played smart on his female colleague, who teaches Mathematics and Science at the school, when he invited her over for dinner at First Stop Restaurant at Asamankese, where he resides.

Sources close to the Asamankese Police Command told DAILY GUIDE that on that fateful day, after dining and wining, Frank Akamah played some delay tactics until such a time that it was too late for his guest to get a car back home to Brekumanso, where she lives.

Pretending to be concerned, Akamah willingly proposed that his guest (name withheld) could pass the night so they could go to school the next day, as it was rather too late to get a car to the village.

Realising that it was late indeed, she reluctantly accepted the offer but refused to share his bed.

Rather, she chose to make herself comfortable in a sofa in the living room.

The American volunteer, for obvious reasons, refused every attempt by Akamah to have her share his bed until the later gave up and went to bed.

However, while his guest lay in the sofa fast asleep, Akamah like a preying lion pounced on her for sexual favours, but that was not going to come easy.

The two science teachers got entangled in a serious battle until the stronger person won.

Akamah eventually had his way as his guest could not resist any more. So Akamah managed to satisfy his burning sexual desire.

Alas she asked to be excused to urinate as the washroom was outside the room.

She, however, ceased the opportunity to get on the next available bus to Accra where she reported the incident at the American Embassy.

She was hosted and taken to the hospital, treated and discharged.

After two weeks, when she had somehow recovered from the trauma, a delegation from the embassy stormed the Brekumanso L/A JHS where they arrested and handed Akamah over to the Asamankese Police for further investigation.

The suspect is said to have been involved in such illicit act with some of his students.

He has always had his way because parents were either too scared to report him to the appropriate authorities or settled the issues at home.

His cup, however, became full when he decided to do same to his Obroni colleague.

Most of his pupils, who had been his victims, are said to be exceedingly excited over his arrest and are waiting for the great day of judgement when he would be finally incarcerated for all the hurt he had caused them.

A police source said the suspect made his second appearance in the Asamankese Magistrate Court on Thursday May 2, 2013 and was remanded in police custody to reappear in a week’s time.

He is a CEO/Mayor of a major metro city with a selective memory. He wants to tell the citizens of Accra that at any point in time he can deal with only a single issue and not two or three or more, relating to his jurisdiction.

Why did he run for the office, if he did not understand the job description ? If he ran only to quench fires burning out of control, then he is in the wrong seat and must quit immediately. He is rich enough by now.

In so far as we have corrupt public officials as well as kleptocrats stealing from the innocent citizens, Ghana will forever face these issues. Why, because we as a nation have allowed everyone and any one to ply their trade at these so called markets. Yes, some tariff is collected, but as we all know these collectors are in cahoots with their bosses and much of the revenue ends up being divided among the city officals who are underpaid. So instead of inspectors being sent to these commercial arears to check on potential fire hazards, structural deficiences, poor electrical wiring, illegal tapping of electricity, use of gas tanks with faulty and leaking valves, every one has been left on their own to do whatever they see fit. As such, when an incident as sad as it is for the traders occur, everything goes up in flames. Now, logic would dictate that if the banks do issue loans tto these traders, then they must educate them on taking uo insurance policies to cover these loans and to recover their losses. A win, win situation for every one. Yes, the government is burdened with educational, health issues as well as a ton of other pressing matters, so it would be unfair to start pointing fingers at the mayor or anyone else. What we need is a system of checks and balances, a system of accountability from public servants and an inspection system with inspectors who cannot be bribed but will police these market places looking for potential hazards and fixng them. We need education. The traders need to be educated as well to put aside greed and to protect their investments by taking the neccessary steps to prevent such massive losses in the future. GOD Bless Ghana

I thought this morning's programme was a fine opportunity to deal with the fire problem but I thought Joy FM presenter did worst at managing the programme. If you invite a guest on specific issues you do not digress into areas he is not prepared for. what kind of informed response do you think you will get. it is not done anywhere because then your guest will not attend. Today's panelist on joy fm behaved like kids with a new toy. Accra has problems which needs to be addressed. Some of the solutions started during NPP's time up to now were blocked by us the very same people complaining now. An example was the removal of Old Fadama, Hon. Stanley Blankson was asked to stop and that went for the de-congestion of Accra too.

We should stop complaining and start planning solutions for Accra because it does not belong to NPP and NDC alone.

Back to today's programme. Kwadwo would have called the panelist to order. what surprises me most today was the host and the panelist did not recognized they misbehaved on radio when callers complain and that to me was a shame. JOY FM sit up and call actual experts on the topics and not I know it all kind of people who present test book solutions.

When inept, incompetent and unintelligent people who don't have any business being in gov't, steal their way into gov't, these are the exact results that portends for the socio-economic development of the country. It's an irrevocable fact that, the NDC party has never had any intelligent people to change the course of the country for the better and they never would. It's not because of anything that, they would steal, propagate falsehood and outright lies, just to stay in power at all cost. Thankfully, Ghanaians are saying no more of such nonsense. We have everything it takes to change our destiny as a people and the NDC party which is full of thieves, mediocre minds, inept and incompetent administrators, and peddlers of lies and falsehood, cannot and should not be made to sabotage our development and growth as a country. The NDC party lacks the men with the mindset and intellectual acumen to address the issues and that's a solid fact, take it or leave it.
