If a national party (or one that aspires to be one) cannot allow for, and accommodate genuine but dissenting views by its rank and file, especially those who helped to form it in the first place, then such a party is doomed politically.

Unless a member does something grossly unethical e.g. in the case of Mr Adams and the NDC, which seeks to injure the party significantly, there is no reason why they should be castigated and expelled in this way. Wireko-Brobbey and Kwame Npianim are two examples of people who have sought to bring reason to the NPP and suffered a less harsh but nonetheless similar fate.

It also appears to me people like Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and Owusu Afriyie wield too much power in the NPP and I simply cannot understand how and why any sensible and open-minded Ghanaian would want to join such a party.

I have not yet read Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe's autobiography (which I hope to get a copy of) but if the excerpts are anything to go by, I cannot see what his sins are to merit his "expulsion" if the latter is true. How different is this revelation from Dr Arthur Kennedy's own reflections after the 2008 election which the NPP lost?

This action is shameful, disgraceful, demonstrates immaturity on the part of these guys who claim to have been in politics for a long time and does a great disservice to the party. To link Nyaho-Tamakloe to the president's brother is merely a smokescreen in my opinion. I very much doubt if the writer would intentionally betray a party which he helped form simply for family reasons when up and down the country we all have relatives and family members in the different parties.

I for one have relatives who are MPs of both NPP and NDC and that is not at all a problem, nor do I engage in political discussions along partisan lines with them as I do not belong to any of these two parties. Honesty is always the best policy and if a party would bury its head in the sand instead of facing up to its own 'demons' and addressing their shortcomings, such a party is not worth its name let alone a place as a national party of worth. I am happy to dialogue with NPP followers on this issue if they wish to have a serious debate about what not to do as a party!!!

When you needed to form a national coalition for credibility as a party, Nyaho-Tamakloe was "brilliant" and you forget that he had plenty of opportunity to have joined the NDC which was after all dominated by people of Volta region origin including Rawlings (a fellow old Achimotan or AKORA as they prefer to call themselves). He chose instead to join the founding members of the NPP.

Today you accuse him of being tribal!! What a pity. Your party will struggle to remain nationally relevant at this rate, trust me. And I am not saying this because I support any side.

NPP leaders must understand that in politics the old saying "drink deep or taste not" is very relevant. Therefore, if you are not happy about something within just be mute or attempt to use available means to resolve or complain instead of washing dirty linen in public. Also the youth in the party must learn to be a bit slow in condemning the elders when they are perceived to be wrong for you have learnt from them before.
