It is obviously the petition that no merit that is affecting development. This useless adventure of trying to make oneself popular or create a situation of winning favour as a candidate during party primaries is what is costing the nation all this huge monies and losses in a variety of ways. Who says that Nana did not know that his petition was not going to hold water. What has come out so far clearly shows that there is no ground on which judges are going to stand to annul the votes as requested by Nana & Co. Nana and Bawumia who is standing in the dock there knew this from day 1 that their case will not see the light. It was all display of insincerity, lack of credibility, skewed selection, selective and biased analysis and worse of all flimsy points and excuses based on which annulment is being demanded. Everything being said in that court is based on being economical with the truth and some naked lies being told from the witness box. I think it is time the judges declare this case as a "foolish case" . The fact is that it lacks merit and is just a waste of the nation's resources.

I agree with you. The Supreme Court should have ruled by now, in fact long time ago, as demonstrated in the case of Gore Vs Bush, or as Kenya's Supreme Court did. This grandstanding by our Justices and all the delay tactics by Attorneys on both NDC, NPP, and so forth only goes to prove the standard "colonial mentality" of embellishing everything in Ghana. We overdue everything because we are always coping others and not wont to be creative and innovative by our own standards. This case is a direct example of our downfall; we take for ever to accomplish any feat - we are held in the throes of constant procastination... and frankly that is our undoing in Ghana and Africa. This case should have been settled in January!!

Besides, any time the respondents want to ask any question outside the pink sheets, Addison objects immediately to it.
To be fair i blame the Supreme Court for not throwing this case out after day 2 when Bawumia stood up and said they were not accusing Mahama of any irregularities. Why make him the first respondent if he has done nothing wrong ? You can't go to Court claiming someone has burgled your house and then when the case starts, you then tell the judge ' sorry he only trimmed my hedge without my authority '

The election petition has caused a lot of harm to the country and that has got nothing to do with any individual, and certainly not the fault of counsel Tsikata.

After all he did not bring the petition to court. Those who make such stupid statements simply want a one-week hearing in which they or their preferred candidate is DECLARED winner of the elections which in the first place is IMPOSSIBLE because the worst case scenario would be a RECOMMENDATION for a review and (though most unlikely) a re=run of some (or all) the presidential election.

It is also important to underscore the fact that those who are doing harm to the economy are those who wish to create an 'apparent leadership vacuum' by disturbing the peace, law and order and economic activity via various overt and covert means. This is what you should be talking about, not such stupid remarks about Tsikata!

Do you know what is affidavit trial? It means basing your cross examination on ONLY what the petitioners filed at the court registry which the respondent is served with. Wait and see how repetitive and pathetic Addison will be when he takes on Gen. Mosquito. If it had not been affidavit trial, you would have seen Tsatsu in full flight and control of the court proceedings with NO CHALLENGER.

Have you not seen that, the judges refuse to write most of his questions and long explanations. Wake up men and face reality. Ghana should move forward. he is just there to delay the case and not to make and sense of what is happening at all. the answer the supreme court is looking for is whether there was irregularity and if there were, did it affact the outcome of the election? None of the three lawyers for NDC, President and EC is able to prove that, the just keep talking about douplecate and so on, was what NPP claims on that duplicates and if there are looking at their analysis which all the three lawyers have a copy ,has NPP used it twice???? This is what we the lawyers outside want to hear so this case is more serious than you people think and make any analysis out of any thing you see or hear without knowing the facts....

Votes were painstakingly counted one-by-one in PUBLIC view, were tallied in public view, were ascribed to each candidate accordingly in public view, were acknowledged and certified as accurate by ALL party representative without protest AT THE POLLING STATION. The results were then communicated to collation offices (where all party representative were present) and tallied there as well by region with no protest from any party reps and finally were sent to the strong-room of the EC (where party reps were present as well).
The NPP is not asking that the election be redone in certain constituencies or that the votes cast be re-counted in specific constituencies they allege irregularities in. They are asking that 9 unelected Judges of the Supreme Court essentially eliminate the votes of thousands of Ghanaians - like the votes were never cast of each candidate. The request to "ANNUL" the votes of Ghanaians alone should be OUTRAGEOUS to ALL Ghanaians. What's more; even though the alleged irregularities (which are disputed by the NDC and co-respondents) occured in NPP strongholds, they are not even seeking to annul those votes in their strongholds. They are only asking the court to annul enough votes in NDC strongholds (i.e. annul 55% NDC and 28% NPP votes and other 17% other parties) to make them come out on top. Once again, the thinking Ghanaian should be OUTRAGED at the attempt to use the Supreme court to selectively annul votes. C'mon people - regardless of party, we need to think about this as Ghanaians first.

The idea of "annuling" votes that have be duly cast, counted and certified is simply unheard of in any democracy. One can challennge the eligibility of voters at the polls, they can protest the accuracy of votes tallied at the polling station and ask for a re-count and they can even cite and provide credible proof of irregularities that should compel the court to order a re-do of voting in that contituency or particular area. However, the NPP here is asking the Supreme Court to simply shave off votes cast for their political opponent and thus flip the election in their favor.
This is simply unheard of. We need to really get serious in Ghana and remember we are Ghanaians first before partisans.

I wouldn't be so sure, buddy. From what I gathered, apparently the Petitioners sent error-riddled affidavits and pink sheet exhibits to court. Ever heard of affidavit trial? The case is a complete YAMUTU, if you ask me.
