I would suggest that our security and law enforcement authorities must be tough and ruthless with any of them who defile our resources and environment.

Also, the guidelines read as if companies and civil societies do not have to establish safety protocols, with or without local peoples, before accidents occur. They only must act after accidents occur. That is rather confusing. It "smells irresponsible," socially irresponsible, if you ask us.

Our examples and commentary was directed towards our partners we work with. As an international NGO working on river issues, particularly hydropower construction - where China leads the global market with more than 300 dam projects in 70 countries - it makes sense for us to provide comment to our audience on how the new guidelines might be useful.
I encourage you to also look at the guidelines and see how they might be most relevant to mining operations, such as those in Ghana.
