I see the elders in Ghana as cowards, just talk and it ends there. Yes serial callers are a problem, political propaganda is a problem, to the extent that a political party has a propaganda secretary, we know our problems but we are only good at talking about them. Is it not the radio stations that patreonise these serial callers and the like. I would have expected some strong message to go to the radio stations and their owners, and some proposal of legislation to deal with radio stations that cannot control such things.

Why did you sit on the fence while the cows destroyed the environment and the livelihood of Afram Plains farmers? Why do you sit and allow the so-called small scale miners destroy the ecology of Asanteman thereby destabilizing the livelihood of your subjects? Instead of purchasing a mansion and paying property taxes to the local municipality in England, why wouldn’t build a museum at Jacobu or Kumawu where people would pay to see the rich Asante culture in modern times? If your subjects perish amid poverty, famine, mental/psychological/emotional/physical stress, who would be left to enable you exercise your kingship?

The so called politicization of our national discourse could not be stopped.It could only be minimized.This is the prize we all pay for practicing participatory democracy.The whining of those who advocate for the cessation of partisanship stems from our inability to pursue court actions against irresponsible fabrications and lies among ourselves.Anybody can get up and blabber gossip,initiate hurtful rumours,fabricate lies about opponents and bear no consequences.
If those who perpetuate such wanton character assassinations without poof are hauled to court and are subjected to heavy financial losses or even thrown into jail,they'll curtail such malfeasance.Unfortunately,we allow sleeping dogs to lie and wonder why our national discourse is so tainted with empty howling,falsehoods,abject lies and unsubstantiated allegations.
Using the radio waves to air our views is a positive thing.Our country is suppose to be a free country,isn't it?What we cannot and should not permit is to have a few political hacks muddy the waters by festering gossip and lies with impunity and escaping the wrath of the law.
Lets get into the habit of using due process the way it ought to be used when our libel laws are violated instead of muzzling our infant freedom to express ourselves no matter how stupid we might sound sometimes.

Nana, Ghanas institutions are the basis of the country decadence. It is more frighten when these politicalised institution become partisan of the. ruling party. Jj rawling the sole dictator Ghana have had, eliminated most of the management of these institution and replace them with his partisans, to rule without opposition for 20 years. The international community saw his deeds and with the help of some international reputated ghanaians forced him with sanctions to re-establish democracy and thereby Multi-partism in Ghana. His party the NDC continue to use their political influence on the national institutions. Mahama knew the outcome of the election because he had have his promise from Afari Djan the head of the electoral commission. Even before the election he had re-allocated his vice to the Flag-staff house. The party politic is their establishment to gain fortunes and the instution to valid their legitimacy. How could Woyome obtain Ghc 51million without the collaboration of his party the NDC. So you see, Nana, the independence of our institutions does not exist no more since the dictator jj rawlings. His barking on corruption is dust and his accountability is for only his rivals. Ghana's only remedy is to rebuild the confidence in our institutions by protecting them from these fortune-seekers.

Because they do not do any research on any topics, they just pick up a screaming headline or rumor from one of the equally useless newspapers, play one or two songs .. and presto..Call in .. the number is 024 783 1960. Ins't it time some of these useless stations are closed down? Isn't it time for the stations to start retraining some of their presentors. Don't we have a National Communications Board (whatever they are called)? What do they do? Just drive Pajeros around?

The time has come for the media to critically analyse the damage they have cause to the nation as whole. Instaed of commenting on social and developmental issues, they tend their station into political platfrom for politician to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians. Unless the media laws are review with string measures if not these problems will be part and parcel of Ghanaian democracy. As nation we do not emulate the good practice of democracy from the western world but always adopt their negative cultures.
